Although I collect only Romans now and welcome choice, I found it strange to see KC entering this sphere. You have TG's range which can't be bettered in terms of VFM or you have FL's premium range which can't be bettered in terms of detail and accuracy. Pitching between the two, as I suspect...
I'd like to sell this item for £80 + £5 postage to the UK (international would have to be more unfortunately) so I can reinvest in a couple of figures. I don't think its too bad a value as you get 4 figures and the barbed wire fence that comes with it. PM me if interested.
I agree wholeheartedly with Sahara. I haven't those sorts of numbers though, I'm only up to 34! I too can pick holes in some of the figures but I chose not to buy those that I don't think are quite right for my personal taste but that means that I then collect those figures I do like in greater...
Lovely stuff. However, I'm assuming the Caesarian range wasn't quite as successful and therefore may be a dead duck??? I only bought the figures with the horsehair plumes, so if somehow FL can turn the feathers into horsehair, I will take them of their hands if they're having trouble shifting them!
I haven't purchased the ROM011 or the ROM012 figures yet. If anyone has bought both I would be interested to see how they compliment one another in terms of the one standing behind the kneeling figure.
Just going through some old posts and I agree with this post in as much that I didn't go for this particular set because of the blue leggings and greaves, they didn't go with the 001 and 005 sets. Hopefully one day a set more in line with the earlier releases will come about but not yet as I'm...
Just thought I would bump this thread back up once again because I thought it was an interesting development and hoped it may trigger an update. Would definitely be interested in a Roman 28mm range given the quality of the Napoleonic sculpts.
I've seen the Waterloo diorama up close and personal too and it's what inspired me to get back in to this hobby. I went all 28mm for a while but discovered quite quickly that I didn't possess the requisite skill to paint them myself and then moved towards the 54mm version. I certainly wouldn't...
I did see last month that Sky and Amazon are combining for the first time to make a drama series incorporating the Claudian invasion of Britain in 43AD. We shall wait and see what happens!
I'm hoping they will incorporate the Battle of Medway (about a 20 minute drive from where I live). For...
I think I speak for everyone that collects Romans when I say I think you're doing a great job. The FL figures are great, don't get me wrong, but they don't lend themselves to big displays/dioramas as much as these figures do. The thing with Romans is that lots are needed if you want something...
That said I do think the manufacturers try wherever possible to cater for the majority and that is entirely understandable from an economic perspective.
Perhaps down the line a more bespoke service will enter the fray, whereby those who's interests lay away from the big selling WW2 or ACW...
I've collected for about 15 years and not once have I ever been canvassed by one of the major manufacturers to ask what it is I want out of the hobby and whether my wishes and needs are being catered for as a customer and I have purchased figures from all of the major firms. That's quite telling.
There is a guy on eBay UK that is currently selling some of the Conte Roman series for 3, 4 and even 5 times the price of what they originally cost. He holds on to Toy Soldiers until they are discontinued and then 'bang', on they go. This was all very well pre and for a very short while post...
Given that these Romans are in the same pose, I was just wondering if collectors out there would prefer these in boxes of two rather than single figures? I can fully understand figures with pila being sold separately especially if they're being thrust at a jaunty angle but the thing about...
