    Chariots of Fire...

Mike, As Mae West once said, "too much of a good thing can be wonderful." As a fellow collector of K & C's AE series, you can keep the photos coming, as far as I'm concerned!

    Wooden Camp Apache

If it's a 50s or 60s fort, without seeing a photo, it could have been one that was marketed by F.A.O. Schwartz. That store sold a variety of wooden structures, including a Western-type fort that was oddly named "Fort Bronx."

    Wooden JP.

Staggeringly unbelievable.{eek3} Nice to know that there are still people out there with that much play money floating around. Since my parents are dead, doesn't that make me an orphan? Does the buyer want to adopt a Forum member?^&grin

Hi, Ron, I replied to your ad about the Naps (NA 91-95), but I mistakenly posted it to the thread, rather than sending you a PM as you requested. Five of the six mounteds are in excellent shape, w/their boxes, with the exception of the trumpeter, whose plume was broken off at the base when...

King & Country - NAPOLEONICS - KCS and Chasseur Figures

Good morning, Ron, I have figures NA91-NA 95 in their original boxes if you're still interested in buying them. There are six in all....Officer, NCO, two troopers, one flag bearer, and one trumpeter. The trumpeter's plume was broken at the stem by the shipper, but I still have it, never...

    Battlefield Desecrations

http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/03/23/10827391-civil-war-relic-thief-engaged-in-heartbreaking-destruction. While battlefield desecration/destruction is not new, I thought that Forum members would find this to be interesting, nonetheless. Back in the '90s, as my wife & I were finishing...

    Inspiration

You can find the inspiration for K & C's artist from the "Napoleon in Egypt " series from this work by Meisonnier: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_NmIC49JYeVc/TUoTjp6ipMI/AAAAAAAAA8o/FtmfbFcM8TU/s1600/Meissonier2.jpg

    The Monitor and the Merrimack

Does anyone know if the facial reconstructions of two of the "Monitor's" sailors have been posted anywhere? Their remains were found in the turret, forensics experts did a tremendous amount of work narrowing down their IDs, but I didn't see a follow-up to the news article which promised to show...

    BoM display

Very nicely done. Thanks for sharing the dio with the rest of us. Even nicer that it was a family effort. One gets so tired of hearing how so many people don't have the time to do things with the kids anymore, that it's refreshing to see otherwise.

TCM showing Drums along the Mohawk

That's one of the great things about living in Central New York.... I'm reminded daily of all the FIW & AWI events, including stopping by the site where St. Leger's force camped on Oneida Lake on it's way to Fort Stanwix, then travelling on to FT. Stanwix itself (albeit the re-built one), and...

    Napoleon at Williamsburg (?)

Thanks for the post. The French have not forgotten what the U.S. did for them & for the world during both world wars, and "Napoleon's" appearance & short lecture was a reminder that we should not forget that the French helped in so many ways to "birth" the U.S. P.S. Does this guy do...

    Napoleonic Trivia #70

When I taught college history, it never failed to amaze me how persistent such myths/distortions remained among many of my students. Even if the students didn't actually believe the stories, so many of them knew them. Asked if they knew the true stories, however, they were often at a loss to...

    Napoleonic Trivia #69

Maybe with all the bribery going on in Egypt, he was known as "Baksheesh Bonaparte." There are hordes of black flies everywhere. Surely, Napoleon was called the "Sultan of Swat."^&grin

    Napoleonland

Now, I see that Hitler's Wolf's Lair site is (or will be) for rent, with the ultimate object of turning it into a viable tourist site. http://newsfeed.time.com/2012/01/20/adolf-hitlers-wolf-lair-is-now-up-for-rent/?hpt=hp_t3#ixzz1jyLi78qq

    Napoleonland

I'll pass on that one. Years ago, the Disney people wanted to build something they were going to call "Historyland" next to a Civil War battlefield in northern Virginia. Their rationale was that no one would want to visit a "boring" battlefield when a theme park would be more "exciting." Among...

    Impressive.

I have a small collection of toy castles going as far back as the 1940s, but the one model piece by this maker is done to scale and shows off both toy & model figures very well. {sm4} Because of the weight involved, your postage is going to be greater than what you're normally used to paying.

    Impressive.

The seller does good work. I bought one of his castle ruin pieces some years ago on Ebay and was/am pleased. Besides his standard commercial line of fortifications, he also does commissioned stuff. I would imagine that Roman works would be right up his alley and down his street!

    Red Tails Opens Friday

My wife & I plan on seeing it. About seven years ago, I was lucky enough to get the autograph of one of the pilots when he was at an airshow. Plus, I have several of their reunion photos when they were in Columbia, SC.
