    Myths about the Civil War

Oscar Wilde said, "the Truth is rarely pure and never simple." But no matter where or by whom the CW myths were printed, History remains History; it's not an opinion piece. Either something happened or it didn't, dead ancestors notwithstanding and prejudices toward certain publications...

    Japan Earthquake

No, no, please do not misunderstand me. No one on this thread has contributed anything "comical" about the tragedy in Japan. Far from it. My statement was about people on the national scene who have been making twisted "jokes" about all this and either telling others to lighten up or to say that...

    Japan Earthquake

The current attempts at "humor" on the parts of politicos, comics, and others are not appreciated. A little humor could be welcome in the right circumstances, but I don't feel that the current crop of "humor" is of any help to anyone. Essentially telling the Japanese to lighten up is, indeed...

    Worst intelligence blunders in history

Don't forget Grant's & Sherman's failures to read what was before them in the events leading up to Shiloh. As a separate note, one must acknowledge that some of what we've come to lump together as "intelligence blunders" have really been a mixed bag; overconfidence, underestimation of one's...

Napoleon et les Invalides Collections du musee de Armee

You're right. That one item spoke volumes. What was great about that show was that the items came from so many public & private collections. Imagine trying to track them all down separately. If you haven't gone to the Invalides & the Musee yet, promise yourself that you will do that. When my...

Napoleon et les Invalides Collections du musee de Armee

Just curious to know if you bought the video that went along with the exhibit. One of the more interesting aspects of the exhibit was that a number of the items were restored to help make that show even better than it was. Anyone who views those items today can thank the Memphis show's sponsors.

Napoleon et les Invalides Collections du musee de Armee

Did anyone go to the superb Napoleon exhibit in Memphis in '93? K&C's Napoleon in Egypt line prompted me to dig out the catalog from that show to look specifically at the items used by Napoleon during that campaign. A few years later, and I was at the Invalides & the Musee, looking at many of...

    Napoleon in Egypt.

I know that late last year, someone in the know promised that K&C would be doing more with Egypt, but I couldn't imagine that we'd see BOTH Ancient Egypt AND Napoleon's Egyptian campaign back-to-back. I was just pleased to finally see more in the AE line, but this latest K&C foray really took me...

King and Country/ John Jenkins for sale....

I'd like to buy the Ranger Hut if it's still available. We've done business at least once before. I don't have PayPal, but, if memory serves, I did send you a personal check. Besides, T-frog, I've done business with a number of Forum members as well as distributors/dealers if you need...

Borders files for bankruptcy - closes 200 stores

I thought that this was supposed to be about the demise of a bookstore chain, not germ warfare, squishy chairs, "a few gross of battered books," and latte slurpers with their pinkies in the air.:rolleyes2::rolleyes2::rolleyes2:

Why do Yanks always bag the fighting ability of the French?

I taught in public, private, and parochial schools high schools as well as on the college level for over 30 years and it never failed to amaze me how little Americans knew about their own history, let alone anyone else's. At the same time, I found a number of Americans to be quick to pass...
