Most of my documents are from the Revolution. Mostly printed decrees from the National Assembly. The best one is a document signed by all the members of the Committee of Public Safety (the re-constituted one after Thermidor), including Carnot. You would be surprised at the low cost of such items...
Thanks for your post. I have a couple of edged weapons from that time period, but the bulk of the collection consists of original documents. A lot of 19th century prints and many 19th & 20th century books as well. Not as many model/toy figures as I have in the FIW part of the collection.
When I was a child & would see a person/persons acting out in public, my mother used to say, "look away or you'll just encourage them." I want to see the poppy wearers, not the others being discussed in this thread. I believe that we vastly outnumber the right-to-be-idiots in any event. They...
Thanks for posting these interesting links. Last time that I went to the fort was in the '60s, so I was long-overdue for some sort of visit. :D:D When I lived in Buffalo in the '80s, a local TV station set up recording equipment in the Castle in an attempt to "capture" the headless ghost. Alas...
Re: Lynchings in the US in 19th & 20th centurys
One of my favorite time periods to study & collect. I have Starlux & Mignot soldats. My first time in France, I was introduced to a French stage actor who was absolutely delighted to see the Mignots that I had purchased in Paris. By the way, you...

No, not swept under the rug when I was growing up in the North. It's a topic which so many Americans prefer not to discuss, however. When I taught African-American history, some of my students burst into tears when they saw photos of lynchings, while others became incensed. If you ever watched...
Years ago, when I lived in Buffalo, NY, an elderly WWI vet was strangled to death in his flat by some punk looking for drug money. I believe what makes news like this worse than usual is that these vets went through Hell & back, only to die at the hands of street toughs in search of "easy"...
Every bit a hero. While I know that there will be at least one piper present to pipe him over to the other side, I trust that "The Flowers O' th' Forest" will be among the tunes that will be played. Thanks for posting the news item.
Hi, I sent you a PM & an e-mail about the AE 12 set that you have for sale & have not gotten a reply. Is it still for sale? Thanks, Dave david kamerance@gmail.com
Very pleased to note Cushing's award. Certainly, a great number of troops went above & beyond during the G'burg Campaign. Let Cushing's medal help to represent ALL those who did.
I've known combat vets from as far back as the Spanish-American War, all of whom did their duty and none of whom...
