what do you think about used toy soldiers?

Snap......If I can get brand new and they are easily available then I buy them straight out of the box. Otherwise its secondhand for me. About 50% of my John Jenkins has been bought from ebay or from this site. Getting hold of some of John's early work at a price that doesn't match the GNP of...

    Irish eyes aren't smiling

Try the link mate, pretty comprehensive account. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/ Basically he kept the ball in play by deliberately handling the ball which led directly to the French scoring the goal they needed to go through to the finals.

The BBC news had a piece that a movement has formed to boycott anything French from wines, cheese and restaurants to letters and kissing!

    Irish eyes aren't smiling

The media this side of the Irish Sea appear to be incensed by the manner of the Republic of Ireland not qualifing for the World Cup in South Africa in 2010 but it appers it's nothing close to the upset it has caused in Eire! Thierry Henry has caused a bit of uproar, for example a website was...

New airfix releases 1/32nd scale ww2

Has anyone used the 'Army Painter' method for adding shading and depth to the figures. I usually do my own shading and highlighting using various washes and inks. A few people have recommended the dip, so I might give it a go but I'd like to hear from anybody who has? This isn't a plug for the...

Half-way through Neil Hanson's account of the German aerial bombing offensive against England during the Great war entitled ' First Blitz - The secret German plan to raze London to the ground in 1918'. An interesting account of the development of strategic bombing; I've just got past the...

    Top 20 Greatest Live Acts

Seen Pink twice over the last couple of years and she is a fantastic performer with all manner of stunts and acrobatics - good value for money. Also, caught Mark Ronson (Anglo/American) down at the Dome in Brighton and he put on a great show - minus Amy of course! Biggest let down in recent...

    WW1 Suggestions/VC Winner

Good idea, the exploits of the BEF in August - October 1914 would be a great addition to the K&C Great War range. A RHA limber and gun both limbered galloping to and fro and unlimbered ready for action would be spectacular. Britains did a set as do Maision Militaire. Another range I'd love to...

    Irish and Scootland music

The traditional form of Celt music is called Ceilidh (pronounced "Kay-lay", emphasis on 1st syllable). The name is from the Gaelic word meaning a visit and originally meant just that (and still does in Gaelic). It can also mean a house party, a concert or more usually an evening of informal...

    Ribeyes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent, same thing happened to me about the same age (maybe 2 or 3 years older) I as staying on my Uncle's farm as I did for a few weeks every year. Ultra fresh chicken cooked in some many different ways and slaughtered on the block that very morning. Also, fresh vegetables, fruit and...

Three suggestions for new RAF series

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction on the photos and the book, its the sort of thing I can gaze at for hours. When I get time I shall invest. Not wishing to sound padantic I think its a Hawker Demon, the fighter version of the Hart (I think). I take the point about damaged...

Three suggestions for new RAF series

I like the Gloster Gladiator, is that a Hawker Hart in the distance and who made it? I love airfield scenes, especially photographed in that bright light, reminiscent of warm balmy English summers day. Well done and thank you for posting.

    UK Rememberance day today.

Well said chaps, makes me feel sort of proud to be a Brit Treefrogger! The account of the school bombing reminded me of the tragedy at the village school in Lingfield. I lived near the school so here's my remenbrance day tribute. http://www.bbc.co.uk/ww2peopleswar/stories/48/a3941048.shtml

    December Releases

Quality - I don't think I've laughed at a post on the forum so much. Ok, you guys are green, but that poutine stuff just looks like a heart attack on a plate - I hope it tastes better than it looks! If Mrs Evzone started feeding me that stuff she'll either be angling for the life assurance...

Thanks mate, I think I understand now. Loons 'cos of a bird and twoons 'cos of no bird. Are you sure about the cheese curds on chips? Mind you I've been known to eat stewed and jellied eels with pie and chips smothered in liquor (a parsley sauce not alcohol). Canadian Ladies sound...

    Let us not forget

I think the programme and it's content would have been better served if it was broadcast earlier in the evening perhaps to a wider audiance. Likewise, I thought the mix of narration from relatives, serving personnel both full and part-time and the odd 'personality' worked well to convey the...

    Let us not forget

Well-said Tony. Given recent tragedies the occasion of remembrance is especially poignant this year. I caught Words of War on TV last night, although I felt humbled I was thankful that amongst all the drivel on the box there was something of merit and substance to round off Remembrance Sunday.
