We will pay for that ........

No, I didn't make the building, it was made by a local friend of mine who does some wonderful dioramas. He's a retired architect, so 'has the eye' for details and the skills of constructing building both miniature and 1:1 scale :) This another one he did for a WW1 scene showing the Signals...

We will pay for that ........

The Duke of Wellington decreed that the British Forces were not to steal or rob from the locals when moving through occupied lands, unlike the French who 'lived off the land'. They had to pay for goods and services and so try and not to have the locals antagonised and forming a guerilla force...

    JJD Advent Calendar 2025

I have just had time to do some observations on the range and spread of the series that are featured in this year's Advent Calendar sketches, and this is quite interesting. 60% of the figures are based on North American based figures/events. 30% are military figures and also most all are...

New Imperial Miniatures / Dorset Model Soldiers Website

I have recently been dealing with Antony of Imperial Miniatures, a UK company, and he is also the owner of Dorset Soldiers, after buying them from Giles Brown. I was wanting spare arms to complete some castings, and he had exactly the goods I needed in the Dorset range. The other Imperial...

    Sharpe at Christmas

Yes, I've read some of those, Iain Gale's 'adventures' of Keane were good and I really enjoyed the Alain Lausard Adventures Series by Richard Howard because it delt with the pre-Napoleonic era and the Egyptian Campaign of 1799 and early battles after Napoleon came to power as Emperor. John

    Sharpe at Christmas

Yes, similar books on a similar subject, I have read them all when I had completed SHARPE. I really enjoy historical fiction and especially the Napoleonic era and stories on both sides of the conflict. John

Meeting Up With One of Sharpe’s 95th Riflemen

Andy, I'd love to see some more riflemen just like the ones in the TV show, and in relaxed poses like the images of those actors, so maybe that could be for next year????? John

    Sharpe’s 95th Rifles

Andy, Great to see the Rifles 'on campaign' and the animation really displays them better. I now need these reinforcements on my battlefield now AND Richard Sharpe ;) John

    JJD Advent Calendar 2025

Maybe John was inspired by this painting for the figure.... The Buffs (3rd Regiment) defend their colours, painted by William Barnes Wollen. The engagement saw the 3rd (East Kent) Regiment of Foot (The Buffs) deployed with Lieutenant-Colonel John Colborne's 1st Brigade. They sustained heavy...

    JJD Advent Calendar 2025

Great to see a soldier in campaign dress, patches in his trousers, boot with his toes showing, and ever watchful for the Frenchmen. These will be a wonderful addition for collectors wanting the earlier battles on the Peninsular, John
