I carefully adjusted the shabraque and fig, all held by sticky putty. There is a bit of gap between the fig and the pommel. Hence, the pommel will be further cut up to reshape it.
A tail was added to provide further support to this piece.
I resculpted the breast area of the horse which was unnaturally stuck out. This was a feature for this particular historex horse pose also noted by other modellers.
Added wire arms and slid the sousaphone over the body. The pose is held by sticky putty.
With this figure, I am dealing with a slightly larger scale about 60mm which I am trying to scale down visually.
Besides shortening the legs, I also changed the pose to make him sit on a rearing horse. New horse selected for this.
Im starting to paint it now. My original ref was of course the FFL by Martin Windrow and Mike Chappell. However, the internet is always in flux and I came across a pic of the trumpeter wearing a lighter summer tunic over dark brown winter pantaloons which looked more attractive.

Just when I thot all done, I forgot the epaulettes...
Also forgot to add the spurs. It is a bit difficult to drill and add spurs now but I drilled thru the bottom of the heels at an angle to insert the wire to the back of the boots.
Anyway, ready to be painted.
