    Man, it's SNOWING here....

Winter is coming. An Arctic cold front will cross Toronto on Sunday with bursts of heavy snow. This will be followed by an Alberta Clipper on Monday with the first widespread snowfall. It will snow most days for the next 2 weeks and the daytime high temperature will stay below freezing...

    RUSSTAL051 Russian T-70 Tank

I don't think the BT-5 was at Stalingrad. By late 1942 there were almost no BT-5 in front line service. The tank strength at Stalingrad in August 1942 shows a few T-26, some T-60, about 40 KV-1 with the bulk of the tank strength being T-70 and T-34. Terry

    RUSSTAL051 Russian T-70 Tank

It makes sense that FL made a T-70 given that Stalingrad is a feature series for them. And there were quite a few T-70 at Stalingrad - from memory 60 or 70 spread among 5 or 6 tank units. They were common in the first 2 years of Barbarossa with more than 8000 produced. Even K&C produced a...

I just found out my Grandfather served in the U.S. Army in WWI

My grandfather also fought in WWI in the Army of the Tsar. He's the one sitting and the resemblance of me at 20 to my grandfather at 20 in the photo is uncanny. I've been told that he was in the Cossack Cavalry and was a translator. He did speak several languages and had a real affinity for...

2017 Baseball Season: Let's Play Two!

What a letdown. I was all psyched up to watch a game 7. Might we hope for another juiced ball slugfest to erase a 5 - 0 start? Terry

I saw a photo of the Tiger II glacis from a better angle and the slope looks OK. Terry

    Chicago Room 2017

Brad. Is it a trick of the camera, angle of the photo and all black colour that makes the slope of the Tiger II glacis appear very shallow? Terry

    Chicago Room 2017

The 8.8 cm KwK 43 L/71 came in two versions. The first version had a monoblock one piece barrel like the one on the Figarti prototype. Due to the high rate of wear on the end 2/3 of the barrel, a two piece barrel like the one in the photo was produced allowing replacement of just the end...

    KING & COUNTRY Dispatches -- September 2017

Also the 35R was in the fighting at Arnhem in September 1944 Pz.Jg.Abt.684 was equipped with 6 - 4.7cm PaK(t) auf 35R (f) This model would make good opposition in an Arnhem diorama and there are probably some photos of them in the many books on Arnhem. Terry

    KING & COUNTRY Dispatches -- September 2017

I'd like to put this one on the list of 10. And why respond to just me when 2 other collectors went into detail broaching the subject before I posted anything. Otherwise it's a very well done model and I would be first in line to get one with a Normandy paint job. I suspect the camo is...

    KING & COUNTRY Dispatches -- September 2017

Some 200 were produced and many went to several Anti-tank Battalions for Barbarossa where they replaced 3.7mm towed anti-tank guns. The 4.7mm gun was superior to the towed 3.7mm gun and they saw combat but performed so poorly mechanically, the units went back to their towed 3.7mm guns. The 35Rs...

M7 Priest - Raising the Weapon

I dont know of any method to raise a gun on a K&C AFV model other than moving it by hand and relying on friction to keep it in a raised position. The guns raise easily enough if the model was designed to allow the gun to move. I suspect EA058 gun is fixed in place in a lowered position. DD030...
