    KING & COUNTRY Dispatches -- April 2019

Nice variety of releases. I especially like the Fallschirmjagers and the Don McCullin figure. I wonder does the Don McCullin stand alone or does it need something to lean on? Also, intriguing to know what he thinks himself about being portrayed in figure form!

    Sunday Escape with K&C

That’s interesting. I remember hearing just after John Entwistle died (bassist with ‘The Who’), that he had an extensive toy soldier collection. I wonder did he ever purchase from K&C?

    Sharpe?

Absolutely, I would definitely go for that!! I’m currentlly enjoying the 3rd book in the series ‘Sharpe’s Fortress’. Superb books. A collection of Sharpe figures would be most welcome, comrades and arch enemies. It would complement nicely the 95th Rifles figures. I didn’t catch the TV series...

    New Releases?

Oh dear. I was hoping that it might be some kind of joke.

    Don McCullin _

    Ah, yes. I missed that.

    Don McCullin _

Just a heads up to anyone in the UK or visiting... Don McCullinn’s photos provided inspiration for many of the K&C Vietnam poses. He has a retrospective exhibition at Tate Britain until May 6th. Iconic photos from Vietnam, Northern Ireland and Syria.

    1st Picture of 2019 DAK

Thanks for posting. I do like the desert theatre of operations. These do look like very nicely done figures, particularly the comms officer. But I do like the cuff detail on AK uniforms, and so any figure with sleeves rolled up should at least be wearing a watch. And what happened to the...

    Well what are you Expecting/Wanting?

    K&C Vietnam Series

Yes, that’s true. An awful loss. But from a Toy Soldier perspective, South Korea were US backed with US supplies and uniforms, and so would offer little variety to the Toy Soldier collector in terms of uniforms and weapons.

    KING & COUNTRY Dispatches -- December 2018

Great to see the Mussolini Rescue set. I’ve been waiting for this since it was mentioned a few years ago. I was hoping for more than a 4 figure set, - some attacking Fallschirmjager, defending Italians, - maybe even the Storch??!! But this set is a must have.

    K&C Vietnam Series

I don’t think Toy Soldiers are made in proportion to National casualties suffered. Vietnam is an interesting era. Many countries involved. Undoubtably, the US suffered dreadful casualties. We all acknowledge that. However toy soldier collectors want to represent all aspects of the conflict...

some ideas for Andy concerning the upcoming BoB 2019 figures

Excellent pictures, and I would welcome any figures based upon them. That unusual SMG is something I’d not seen or heard of before. Very interesting.

    Aussies in Vietnam

The more I see these figures, the more I like them. Something about the SLR and the jungle hats. Excellent.

    Flaking paint

I’ve never had this problem with my K&C. Which range is showing this? Thanks.

    Aussies On Patrol

These look excellent. Nice to see the trusty SLR on a toy soldier.

    King & Country Dispatches -- July 2018

Yes, I agree with this. I remember as a kid in the 70s unpacking the old 1:72 Airfix German infantry, and being taken aback and a little uncomfortable even then about the German soldier holding his eyes in agony...

    Some old Winter Sets

I remember buying these in London. Are they really so old? Time flies.

    Curtiss C-46 ‘Commando’

Pressurised? That explains it. I did think the fuselage and cockpit looked very modern in terms of WW2. An excellent model.

RUSSTAL044-050 Russian Naval Infantry & GERSTAL062 German Casualty!

These are very interesting. An unusual take on the Battle for Stalingrad. Any tips from UK collectors on how to buy these most cost effectively?
