Thanks, and yes, I should have done the head separately too...maybe next time :wink2: I'll post some assembled pics later after I've cast 3 or 4. I will get around to a spear arm also for this figure. I tend to be impatient.
I normally just do one piece figures, but wanted to try something where I can get multiple poses from one main figure. This is my current project, a Greek hoplite with arms I can position slightly differently so if I do multiple figures it will look more "alive". Here is the first casting...
"This volunteer unit served with great distinction throughout the Southern campaign of the [American Revolution]. Their full title was the Volunteers of Ireland (2nd American Regiment), and they were later honoured with the number '105' in the British Army list. They were disbanded in 1784" -...
Made a new knight fig with a mace, so decided instead of doing a big multi-color scene (which would be cool), I'd go the Crusader route...going to get around to making some Saracens some day, then they'll have someone to fight besides each other.
I sculpted these nearly 3 years ago, the blue/white one I've posted before. The kneeling fig I never molded because I couldn't see how to make it "work" with a two-piece mold. So finally I did it.

haha...no worries, Michael! The 7th Cav is in the works. I couldn't find my "skeleton" armature mold for my rider fig, so I had to start from scratch on those.
Thanks, Tom. I also like them sans paint. There used to be an old guy I'd see at festivals who sold miniatures. He would dip them in some type of solution which would leave darkened areas on the figure, giving them a great shading without paint. I can't recall what he used.
Okay, I have a confession, if there was only one military conflict I ever dreamed of making toy soldiers about, it is this one. Any time this movie came on when I was a kid it was almost an "event" for my dad, my brother, and myself. So sooner or later I had to try it. The unfinished sculpt...
"Raised in 1803 this unit was originally an irregular unit that was 'regularized' by good and faithful service. At first the uniform was a mustard colour but this would evolve into an overall yellow kurtka, or tunic,...When India won independence in 1947 this unit became part of the Indian Army...
