    The Fur Trade

Loved the movie, and know it frame by frame. Johnson purchased a .30 cal Hawken when he started his journey. it was only a 30 caliber, but it was a genuine Hawken. Later, he found Hatchet Jack frozen to death. and that is how he got Jack's 50 caliber Hawken. the ultimate trappers choice for a rifle.

Just received the new FL Indian scout. mounted figure. superb

This figure is very well done! the horse is beautiful, the scout is very realistic. He is carrying a Winchester lever action, which was present and coveted by the Native Americans. But due to ammunition supply, and repair options, government scouts were always issued the Springfield rifles...

    Boxer Rebellion

The Navy and Marine Corps was issued The Model 1895 Lee magazine rifle. the Army used the Krag. I'm sure those Marines in the legation and in parts of China all had to make due with whatever they could find as their rifles became unservicable, or ran out of ammunition. when the trouble started...

    Boxer Rebellion

Nice. I just ordered the US figures. thank you for the notice. these guys have Krag rifles, so they are part of the Army Infantry relief force. the Marines carried Lee straight-pull rifles, or what ever they could get after that, in the Legations.

    Boxer Rebellion

Actually the Marines were the US contingent that was involved with the defense of the Peking Legation, along with the other nations. the Relief column sent to help them was made up of more Multi national troops, including Two US Army infantry regiments, one US Cavalry regiment, and an artillery...

    Recent purchases from Russian Manufacturers

A little minor search shows that the Spanish Mastif did in some instances appear somewhat like a St. bernard. but larger, and with more varied colorations. These could pass for a pair of those.

A superb model! I am very satisfied with mine. the attachment method and fit for the Schurzen armor is brilliant! easily installed and can be neat or misaligned after a fast paced road march, even missing one or two. very easy to configure many ways. A beautiful show piece. highly recommended!!

John "Liver-Eating" Johnson, born John Jeremiah Garrison Johnston

This is a nice sculpt. Appears to be the Crow chief that signals to Jeremiah Johnson(the movie version), that the feud between the Crows and Johnson is over. In the real story of "Liver Eating" Johnson, or "Crow Killer" as he was called, Johnson was the one who decided to call off his vendetta...

    Poll Time

In my last post, I said I'd like to see a Grumman Duck seaplane made. I still would, but those were a bit heavy for catapult scout plane use. I would love to see an OS2U Kingfisher, or a biplane SOC Seagull done by JJD. One of these would be a very very interesting model. a Grumman duck would too.

    Poll Time

Since we have the Corsair, I'd love to see a Bunker Hill Helldiver! or with the Wildcat, how about a Devastator. Also, still need to see a JJD three color scheme Navy aircraft. so Dauntless, Hellcat, Avenger is still something I would buy without hesitation. My collection would be very nice...

John Churchill, First Duke of Marlborough

This thread is coincidental and opportune for me. I had commissioned a Continental soldier from Attica a couple weeks ago. their posted images looked good, so I took a chance. This thread assures me that my Continental soldier will be a standout in my collection. I will post images when I get...

New Releases for February 2019 - The Second World War

I have to clarify my comment about the track sag. These do tend to sag when the tracks have a lot of wear. but when new or maintained and tensioned, they can exhibit almost no sag of the links between idler wheels. a lot of sag can be present on actual Panzer III's but this can contribute to...
