New Releases for February 2019 - The Second World War

The Stug looks great! I'm very happy with this result. especially glad they have the track sag. that isn't always modeled on these. And the rear stowage racks are interesting! Does that mean we are going to get some gear to fill it with? I'm also sure we should get a couple crewmen. I wonder...

    Knights of the Sky

I'd go for the Degelow figure! I think I know which photo you mean. I have Frank Luke standing in front of his SPAD. would like to have Carl in front of his D7.

    George H. W. Bush's Avenger "Barbara"

That's an excellent idea. and if the superstructure idea costs too much. what about an elevator base? deck section (that fits amongst the existing deck sections) which has a deck elevator that can be displayed at flush or partial elevated height where an aircraft can be situated with handlers...

    Knights of the Sky

Just received new figure "Ltn. Wilhelm Leusch". The painting of the uniform and parachute parts is superb! very well done, great color and texture. looks fantastic climbing aboard the DVII. Highly recommended.

    George H. W. Bush's Avenger "Barbara"

Would love to see an Avenger, Especially the G.H.W. Bush plane. Or a Devastator, or Helldiver (the last one). or a Dauntless. Or F6F. for folding wings. JD's efforts for the F4U worked well, just added a lot of incorrect appearance. What about something similar, but done in clear plastic? with...

New Releases for October 2018 - The Second World War

Yes, comes un attached, and can be removed. you are correct, prop, main aircraft body, two down gear parts, and two up gear parts. So very well painted! I've displayed mine on a grass diorama matt, with a Thomas Gunn figure of an RAF pilot sitting in a chair. very nice, until I can get some...

New Releases for October 2018 - The Second World War

I have mine. No barrels. I like the clean look. beautiful model! I love the weathering they do. the exhaust stains are especially pleasing. My only minor disappointment has nothing to do with the model. I just found out that this particular aircraft may not have had guns in it, and was never...

New Releases for October 2018 - The Second World War

Correction, EARLY F4F-3'S had the windscreen framing, later sub-models of the F4F-3 were made without it. so You can have an F4F-3 without this frame part. the plane JJD modeled here, does have it.

New Releases for October 2018 - The Second World War

You know, sometimes for a guy who nit picks, I miss some obvious stuff. adding some clay to the bottom of pilot figure, is what I will do. thanks for brain jog! by the way, the other mod I did was to add the metal frame part to the front windscreen on each side. the F4F-3's had this (must have...

New Releases for October 2018 - The Second World War

Finished the customization of my F4F-3. JJD did a fantastic job on these.i couldn't be happier. I did update two things, which are visible here. otherwise, a wonderful model I cannot recommend highly enough! One note, the new Corsair pilots looking left and right seem to sit inside the cockpit...

    Romans

Ok, I've received my first First Legion Roman. Really liked the pose and kit of this one. others had posted previously, so I started with this one., very nice. different than my more $ Aero Arts, but much to like. the scars on the shield, and the gritty look, as if actually in the field, the...

    Romans

That's an FL Roman? I have overlooked these! that soldier on the rock looks great! imparts a feeling of resolution, honor duty, and living the soldiers life of discomfort in the field. clearly he is dealing with a harsh winter, obvious even without that beautiful display base. although he is...

    Future WWI Model Airplane Production

For my 2 cents. I am in the camp of those who think Voss had a factory finish DR1 and added only the "Kaiser" face to the cowling. not yellow, not black. drab olive cowling per factory. and for those who follow the yellow cowling and tail paint, I also believe the tail was white with black...

    Future WWI Model Airplane Production

I would,nt mind seeing another Spad XIII in the guise of Count Francesco Baracca. Italy's highest scoring ace. and Enzo Ferrari's inspiration. Or the US Spad XIII of Frank O'Driscoll Hunter. Of course I voted for Werner Voss triplane. And I like the Rene Fonck idea. and McCudden.....on and on...

New Releases for September 2018 - The Second World War

All, I was the culprit who mentioned the possibility that the photo in question was of the F4F that John modeled his blue painted version on. I think JJD makes the most accurate, and true to facts efforts of any manufacturers possibly could, as to their products. and I, in no way think the...

New Releases for September 2018 - The Second World War

Yes, the same idea was in use when they painted US submarine periscope tubes, light pink. The hue was expected to absorb the surrounding light, and blend to it, being difficult to see. This was the section that would break the surface of the sea.

New Releases for September 2018 - The Second World War

I did not know that. Very interesting. being a collector of those kinds of things, that is interesting. I am a particularly big fan of the Model 1917. as this was the most common rifle used by the AEF in Europe. the BAR was a new weapon, and it's debut must have been nice for our troops after...
