I completely agree with you, these are excellent FJ figures.
But because of this identical blue scarf with white dots I will only buy one figure of this series to mix with my FL Fjs ( too bad for me but I don't want to repaint myself these scarves).
I ask myself the following question : what is this blue collar with white dots at the neck of each para (a piece of german para uniform ?; never seen that).
I hope it is not just a scarf, it wouldn't be very realistic on whole group of soldiers.
Thanks a lot for the KingTiger photos, that is exactly what I am looking for.
In case you are also looking for some specific photos, don't hesitate to ask me and I will search my documentation.
Indeed Maranes Editions published very good books concerning SS Pz Div, Tiger abteilungen and also...
You are right, going directly to the very places where great battles took place is an enriching opportunity which allows to immerse in history.
I also have some favorite battles, especially the battle of the Bulge.
In the 80s, I bought the venerable "After the Battle" book that was the reference...
I checked in the book but unfortunately there is not a single photo of the KingTiger #121.
I do know that there are some other sources that identify these photos as KingTiger #121 and not #123, but the author of this Maranes book based his work exclusively on testimonies
from veterans of this...
Barkmann, indeed your touring on Goodwood battlefield must have been very interesting and historically constructive on many points.
I don't have the books you are referring to but I'll take note of their interest.
In fact, these were not Porsche Tiger II that were destroyed by friendly fire but two Tigers I : #333 and #334, both with pierced frontal armor (a third, #332, was also damaged).
And there are two hypotheses : 8,8 cm PAK 43 from Art.pak abt 1039 or 1053, or self-propelled gun H39 with PAK 40...
Hello Pierre,
Here is the reference book that I used : "Tiger de la schwere Panzer Abteilung 503 - Normandie et Vexin Juin-Août 1944" - Max STEIN - Editions Maranes 2021.
Text, photos, carts and color profiles very interesting, research of around twenty years essentially based of the testimony...
About the KingTiger #123 :
it was one of the twelve KingTigers with Porsche turret from the 1st company of the s.H.Pz Abt. 503 in Normandy.
Its commander was the Unteroffizier Curt Weidenkaff.
On August 3, the tank was first immobilized by artillery fire at La Bigne and then scuttled by its...
Hello War Park "corporal",
I wanted to tell you that I am very happy with your latest Normandy Waffen SS releases and I am impatiently waiting for future ones.
In some time, after the Normandy, I hope very much that you will release figures for Battle of the Bulge.
Just a remark about german...
It all depends on how much importance you give to historical reality but, unfortunately, the three jagdpanzer IV are not very accurate.
For more details you can read my previous messages about them on this forum, but here is a little summary of the main inaccuracies :
- BB069 : the barrel...
Tman, unfortunately I don't have any FL Panther tanks and I don't know if I'll ever be able to get one.
You say that there are some inaccuracies about these models.
Is it possible please to know what they are ?.
I've seen side by side photos with a JJD panther and there is a noticeable size...
Yes Tman, I had also noticed that some FL tank inaccuracies were to keep their production costs down.
The whole serie of Jagdpz IV is an obvious example ( globally PzKw IV tooling as you say ).
I don't think I 'll ever get this StuG IV but I have to admit it is an attractive model.
Nice display, as usual Tman.
It's just a shame that FL didn't represent Zimmerit on the StuG IV as it should have at that time ( and of course in this unit ).
Yes, that's actually it :
- s. pz Jg Abt 653 : 13 Ferdinands were written off between 5-27 July 1943 out of a total of 45.
- s. pz Jg Abt 654 : 26 Ferdinands were written off between 5-27 July 1943 out of a total of 44.
And 502 kills for both Abteilung.
(I really like books from H.L. Doyle...
Just a little remark about Kursk Waffen SS figures : I wonder why all bases have this rocky appearance because Kursk battlefield was essentially grassy steppe.
Personally, I find that brands exaggerate the blackening of the barrels and muzzle brakes and it is a shame that this
is done systematically on all models.
It is more of an artistic touch than the reality of things in regard of numerous battlefield wartime photos.
Hunter,
I will also add before ending the discussion that I am agree with you on the fact that some tanks left the factory with the gun /muzzle brake still in heat-resistant dark grey primer,
like the photo you attached ( I 've also attached a photo of an Hetze in 1944).
But I remain convinced...
