Do you think we'll be lucky Nurse Helga and get on board !?

Steve, I think you would enjoy, The Forgotten Soldier by Sajer. One of my favorite books about a German soldier fighting in Russia.

    Gettysburg Film

I like Gettysburg for the leadership of Lee. If his generals make a mistake, he scolds them then commends them for their valuable service. He doesn't dwell on the past error, but rather focuses on the task at hand. The Hunt for Red October, is similar. Sean Connery makes a decision and accepts...

Nice house Mike. To John, you wake up early, even while on vacation! I rise at 5:00 am and I thought that was early.

    Prices of Toy Solider

I have a good avocado tree that bares a lot of fruit. During the season I give a lot away. So I gave my Mexican friend a paper bag and told him to go pick avocados for myself. He says, where's the avocado tree? I said, right there. You don't know what an avocado tree looks like? He says, no man...

What are the Forum members reading

If you like history's hows and whys, you're going to like it. I prefer to be at battle level, witness accounts, how soldiers feel and think. However, it was an eye opener about the politics of the day. I think you read the WWII books, so Six Frigates should be a good precursor for you.

What are the Forum members reading

Almost done with the 500-page, Six Frigates, about the beginning of the US Navy. Will now embark on the 900-page Musashi, the famous Japanese sword's man. I didn't want to read such large books, but when you read poetic lines like, I lay wounded on the battlefield, like a dead leaf floating in...

    Follow The Colors

I've been at the bridge. On the Confederate side was a steep hill overlooking the bridge. It would be like shooting fish in barrel and resulted in the Confederate holding the bridge for a while. Nice depiction and dio.

    N.F.L. Season 2018-19

I misspoke. I meant, I'm for KC -3. Brady has pulled off some miracles in past SBs, but Mahomes is just too good. I see the SB as a short-term high risk investment. Mike, you may not bet enough to change your life, but it has to sting if you lose or make your day if you win, right?

    COVID the 3rd

Yesterday I pulled to the side of the road along with a bunch of other cars as an ambulance sped by. Everyone knew someone was hurt and cooperated to let the ambulance attend to the emergency. I mean everyone. 100%. 100% of the time. What's amazing is we can not get the entire nation to...

    COVID the 3rd

Hope you make it to Maui next year. Sounds like you like a drink or five, just like me. Maui has good high end restaurants, but no good low and mid-priced eats like Oahu. About 30-years ago, an eight foot wave took my pants right off to the ankles and broke the leash from my board. When the next...

Aw John, if you seen one sunset, you've seen them all. Too bad you couldn't visit the other islands. Glad you had a good trip.
