This was a kit that I had bought earlier in the year from Vienna. Nice crisp castings. Finally assembling it. The size is closer to 60mm. Now perusing some bkgd material on this empire from some of the books that I had bought.
Hi Paddy,
Thanks for your kind remarks. In between the ambitious shadowboxes, I find time to work on these single figures. now and then. The Xmas period allows me the chance to focus more on the figures simply because I have to pack up the big boxes for the celebrations.
Ive managed to...
Also lengthened the neck and decided that it will be a full dress marine uniform which is more colourful than the drab khaki uniform. I'll do the drab uniform for my sousaphone piece. I selected a salute pose and then reworked the leg pose drastically to get a correct seat.
After finishing the obvious details, I realise that the front of the tunic is not correct, according to my references.I also converted some stirrups to fit the oversized boots (not shown here)
As I study this piece, I understand why I abandoned it a few years back. The pose wasn't spot on. Notice that the buttons aren't vertical and the fig seems to lean slightly. So I removed the legs and will substitute them.
After my frenzy of spring cleaning, I pored over my gray collection and pondered the possibilities of doing more pieces in between the big dioramas. Since Frida is mostly done, I only have to finish Diego to start painting.
