    Duke of Cumberland

Was looking at doing this fat duke. I noticed that one of the commercial heads resembled him in the Morier paintings. He was grossly overweight and was wearing a cuirass. So I selected an Airfix cuirass. Notice how small the Historex cuirass is for comparison.

    Del Prado Varangian

I couldnt find the thread where I had buried this piece. Got it from Spain for about 10 Euros for my shelf. However, Ive been looking at it and wondering how static the pose was. This is absolutely uninspired sculpting I hate to say. So Ive decided to at least change one of the horse legs. Here...

    Baron Larrey Surgeon

WIP on this fig. I added the coattails and the back buttons. Coattails were some spares and shortened. There were no turnbacks on the coattails. I also added some putty to the brow and resculpted part of the hair. Im taking my time to sculpt carefully to improve the work.

The Fort Canning Museum Battlebox Singapore

Doubtless, many overseas visitors to Singapore will want to visit this museum as it represents the Fall of Singapore. It was originally set up more than 2 decades ago and then the exhibits got moved elsewhere and then relocated back to Fort Canning. I visited this museum recently and took some...

    Louis XIV

Imagine a collection without the Sun King. Of course, I needed a fig based on the famous Hyacinthe Rigaud painting. Andrea Miniatures had produced an excellent metal kit of him but it was very expensive. In a moment of weakness, I opted for a cheap pirated copy at that time. Upon assembly, the...

    Singapore Minicon 2025

There is a regular monthly minicon gathering for the modellers in one of the local shops. Today, the theme was maritime. A small selection of surprisingly detailed models and I took some pix to share with all. Japanese warship based on a 1942 map of Bougainville, Papua 1/700 LCM DDAY 1/35...

    mongol drummer

Hi All, Came across this old and forgotten piece. An early failed conversion of a Heller camel into a bactrian camel with a drummer and two naqareh drums. I think the rider is perched too high and we'll see what happens.

    Project NBY

What's this?? You may well ask. I had a lot of pickelhaube and peak caps leftover from past projects (contemptibles, gravelotte) and still more pkts of Scalelink. So I selected these heads to start yet another forlorn project.

    Nap Sucks

Well, I'm inviting hate mail from Napoleonophiles. hahaha. I am doing extended spring cleaning and really turning out the gray collection and pests as well. Came across this olde base which I had made for my Napoleon Sacre but it was too ambitious then. I thought that maybe if I recrafted the...

    Project MR

I realised that I have a lot of horse parts and rejects. And then there were these leftover pith helmeted heads from Omdurman. So I decided to start another project with these. Crazy right? So here's the start already. Hi John, this one is right up your alley.. hahaha. Rgds Victor

    Akhenaten and Nefertiti

Of course, There were all these wonderful Egyptian documentaries on YouTube. Finally decided to dig out my two figs and the chariot and start from there. This thread is a spin-off of the Merkava thread, in sincere imitation of the numerous spin-offs you get on the entertainment media....hahaha...

    Russian Line Drummer 1786-1796

I've been meaning to do this figure for ever but the ref was elusive.. I've finally located a reference for this in an old Blandford book on the Imperial Russian Army. It is going to be a conversion of an Artmi figure, not quite as good as Historex Airfix. I'm just using him for nostalgia.

Drum Major Imp Gd Zouaves Nap III era

Hi All, In the spirit of sustainable modelling, I am using bits and pieces scoured from my spares for this. The torso was soaked in dettol overnight to remove an old layer of oil paint gunk. So Ive rescued it for the mameluke jacket. Rgds Victor
