    KUR010 Ferdinand #501

Number 501 was one of the most photographed Ferdinand by the russians during the battle of Kursk. We are lucky to have many wartime photos showing it from all sides, so we can notably compare the real camo scheme and markings with the FL model. A short historical story : on 13 July 1943...

German fallschirmjager panzerschrek : blind shooting ?.

I managed to find the NOR033 set on Ebay and I am wondering how the shooter aims at his target. Effectively, it seems that the small aiming window isn't correctely represented and so there is absolutely no visibility (see attached photos).

Anglo-Zulu war : british figures size comparison

Here are some photos of Anglo-Zulu war british figures size comparison. From the biggest to the smallest : JJD, First Legion, William Britain, Thomas Gunn and Conte Collectible. But, in regard of Thomas Gunn, notice there are two different sizes : the "big" and the "medium".

Some remarks about the future Hetzer BB078

Assignment unit is correct and camouflage painting scheme is well done and quite accurate. As usual with FL, weathering is very fine. But, according to historical sources and wartime photos, here are some remarks : - Hetzer #233 was abandoned and captured on the western front during the Autumn...

In hoping a future release of a "true 1944" T34/85.

I hope sincerely that FL release a future accurate "1944" T34/85. With some alterations on LGW045 and LWG046, it might be possible : - rounded front fenders in place of squared off. - smaller commander cupola with two part split hatch in place of larger with single hatch. - twin...

    T34/85 Winter LWG046 : some historical remarks.

For those a little concerned with historical reality, here are some remarks about T34/85 LWG046. FL declines the first T34/85 LWG045 in a winter "February 1944" version but without any alteration. Thus, it results the following inconsistencies : - In first, the actual assignment unit is not...

Wartime photo of Waffen SS Officer 25268

Figures based on real wartime photos are always very lifelike in terms of posture, uniform and equipment. I've found this example with 25268 "Waffen SS officer in greatcoat and smock" : 10th SS Panzer Division "Frundsberg" in Galicie Spring 1944.

    BB070 Winter M-10 : assignment unit error

Effectively, during BOB the 704th Tank Destroyer Battalion was only combat equipped with M-18 Hellcat and not at all with a single M-10. On the other hand, here is a list of Tank Destroyer Battalions which were actually equipped with M-10 during BOB : 629th, 634th, 644th, 654th, 773rd, 803rd...

LWG045 T34/85 version could not fight in 1944

Effectively, First Legion depicts a "composite" turret ( Factory/Zavod 112) with two separate roof vents : one at the rear and one toward the front of the turret roof. This improved ventilator arragement was only produced from April 1945 onward ( and post-war). There are very few wartime photos...

Suggestion for improvement : horses and riders positioned straight and not leaning.

I have noticed that some horses and/or riders are sometimes positioned noticeably leaning instead to be normally straight on the legs or in the saddle. It is not very realistic and given the price of a rider it is really a shame that there is this defect. And, in regard of the horses, it is not...

Trouble with French 4th cuirassier FPW033

The saber is not pointing upwards as shown in the photo of the First Legion site but downwards. It is a shame because the pose looks a lot like the other cuirassier FPW031. Perhaps a factory error during the assembly of the right arm/hand of the figure but the problem is that it seems that this...

Suggestion for improvement : straight weapons

I have noticed that some figures have not straight but curved weapons ant notably rifle butts and spears ( lancers for example ). Here are some photos to illustrate this and you can see that it is not very realistic. About french Red Lancers NAP0425 and Polish lancers NAP0698, there is also...

    Arm adjustments trouble

I have noticed that some figures have not precise arm adjustments. The most common are notably the standing firing poses of AZW british 24th Foot. It would be nice if more rigorous quality controls could be done by the brands.
