The nineteenth century meets the twentieth…

I recently acquired a holy grail item: W. Britain’s 1914 French Cuirassiers. I had some time at night to whip up a quick pedestal diorama to feature them on. I’ve always loved how these figures display the changing nature of war from the smoke filled battlefields of the nineteenth century to...

    Beating the summer heat!

It might be a wee bit warm here in the Midwest the past week but nothing like a small Bulge vignette to beat the heat! Jake

    Take Me Home, Country Roads…

Take Me Home, Country Roads… No, I doubt the boys in blue and grey were singing John Denver between 1861-1865. I’m sure one or two, however, hummed the tune of Kathleen Mavourneen while marching miles down hot, dusty country roads. I finally had sometime today to get out to the local park...

    Souvenirs and Respite

“Souvenirs and Respite” Some of my favorite non-combat poses made by W. Britain Toy Soldier & Model Figure Company in my collection. Though there are so many good ones to pick from. Cheers! Jake

    Burned out Sherman

Last year while working on KnC plastic Sherman I accidentally broke it. Alas, rather than tossing in the trash this Sherman was reconstructed as an unlucky, burned out Sherman who had an unfortunate encounter with a panzerfaust or the dreaded 88. Hope you enjoy! Jake

    Rolling into action…

Some absolutely gorgeous weather here in Michigan today. Couldn’t resist taking a diorama board I finished yesterday outside for some natural light photography. Jake

    With the Old Breed

“In writing I am fulfilling an obligation I have long felt to my comrades in the 1st Marine Division, all of whom suffered so much for our country. None came out unscathed. Many gave their lives, many their health, and some their sanity. All who survived will long remember the horror they would...

    “Entering the Reich…”

“Entering the Reich…” Since we are a mere 3 weeks out from the 80th Anniversary of the end of the War in Europe, I thought it deemed appropriate in posting some pics featuring some of W. Britain’s old and new US infantry and armor. I really love that Ken and Team have covered the late war...

    “Knocking out the guns!”

The new War Park 101st paratroopers look great alongside W. Britain’s paratroopers released circa 2009-2010. I decided to incorporate them into my Brecourt Manor diorama. Easy Company under 1LT Winters seize the first the 105 on D-Day. “Wild Bill” lets out a burst from his Thompson...

    Tiger Tiger, burning bright!

I recently found a Forces of Valor Tiger I that I bought about 20 years ago as a teenager to go alongside my plastic Conte GI’s and Waffen SS. I decided she deserved a new repaint after almost two decades - here’s the final result. The panzer commander was sculpted by Ken when he was a partner...

    War Daddy

“Shoot that guy…the SS *@$! with the busted wing.” Still one of my favorite figures produced by K&C.

    An Exercise in Rhetoric

Hey all! Finally finished my Little Round Top pedestal base. Although I’m mainly a WW2 collector, who doesn’t love the 20th Maine!!!:D All that’s needed is to find a few more figures to complete the scene. I may detach them from the base and permanently attach them to the pedestal. A big...

    WWI Lorry Conversion

Thought I’d post a few pics of a WWI lorry I’ve been working on. The original vehicle was a 1/30 scale ERTL piggy bank. Some chopping, sanding, and a few bits of balsa and styrene and the lorry is now ready to move some weary mud crunchers to the front.

    Sherman Conversion

Hi Guys! Thought I'd post some photos of a 1/30 remote controlled Sherman I've been working on the past year as a way to teach myself the basics of painting/detailing AFV and for complimenting some K&C GI tankers in my collection. I still have a few more details to add but I'm pretty pleased...

    "Assaulting the bunker"

"A squad of G.I.'s from the 16th RCT assault a bunker overlooking the bluffs at Omaha Beach." The bunker and scene is inspired by the assault on the bunker during the Omaha Beach sequence in Saving Private Ryan. I've always found that scene visually stunning. I carved the bunker from pink...
