Slowly getting back into the shadowboxes, I opened up this diorama and noted the bkgd space in the centre. In the ptg, there are more bkgd natives that can be seen just behind the officer with the raised sword.
So I decided to add more natives using my wargames figs which I cut up and grouped...
Finally completed the saddlery and ptd it. All dry now and I have fixed the marine to the horse. Will continue to finalise the ptg and the basing.
The troopers carried the sword and scabbard down the right side. Officers had a fancier mameluke type sword which was worn on the left hip.
Hi All
I really enjoyed this tv series and was disappointed that they cancelled season 3.
Series 2 features a hilarious turn when King Sancho was promised a beautiful bride with mother of pearl skin. She turned out to be a harridan!
Hello Matt,
Hahahahaha. I knew that if I dangled so many threads, I’m bound to catch a few stragglers. Learned that from Jeremy Wade. Hohoho.

I dug out these five tomes on italian uniforms during the post-napoleonic to pre-italian unification period. Beautifully illustrated books which contain a trove of unfamiliar uniforms. I am planning to make several figures from these references.
Also took out this MetalModeles horse. An elegant beast looking for a kettledrum regiment.... The kettledrums are modified toy castings from the time of my QOOH yeomanry figure many years ago.
Hi All,
Now going thru my Ancients/Medieval box. Came across these figs and wondered why I didnt do anything with them. Details look good abeit suspect but they make great painting exercises and I can quickly expand my figure collection with these minor personalities.
Tausius - couldn't get...
I dug up this book in my collection again to retrieve the ref to making this pony. It's a fantastic reference to unique Roman armour. Decided to shorten the neck and thicken it. Added a tail. Will also redo the ears which makes this butt look like a hare!
Decided to model the saddle properly. Added buckles to the bags.
I made up the cantle to the correct height and sanded down the underside of the figure to adjust the seat.
I also removed the back flaps of the tunic and will remodel them over the cantle.
That is a Ted Heath face.... Anyway, I made the face fuller and added a Historex tricorne at a rakish angle.
Then I cut up a couple of metal heavy horses and knocked up a rearing horse pose. Surprising quite easy to saw thru the metal pieces. Deciding to use a Historex horse head as these...
