Hi Guys,

Here is another PREVIEW of our upcoming Australian Army M113 Armoured Personnel Carriers which will be released in a few months time.

As you can see ‘TWO ZERO ALPHA’ and ‘TWO NINE JULIET’ have come to the rescue of a group of Aussie infantrymen from ‘D’ Co., from the 6[SUP]th[/SUP] Battalion of the Royal Australian Regiment who were ambushed by an entire North Vietnamese Army Regiment supported by Viet Cong units just a few miles from the Australian Base at Nui Dat.

For several hours the Australians were surrounded and besieged by numerous waves of attacks that attempted to overcome and destroy their position.

Monsoon rain also poured down preventing overhead American jets from launching an airstrike.

Fortunately for the ‘Diggers’ they could rely on their own artillery batteries stationed at Nui Dat which bombarded the general area to within 50 yards of their location!

Eventually, reinforcements in the shape of 10 armoured personnel carriers broke through from Nui Dat.

During the battle, two Royal Australian Air Force ‘Hueys’ also dropped fresh supplies of ammunition despite the appalling weather and enemy ground fire.

Finally, as darkness fell, the NVA and VC began to fall back and the Aussies could reform and ‘mount-up’ into and onto the APC’s and return to their base taking with them their 18 dead and 24 wounded mates.

A sweep of the battle area the following day showed that at least 245 NVA and VC were killed (and perhaps many more).

The ‘Battle of Long Tan’ was over.

All the best and... have a great weekend!
Andy

Yes I am in. Good summary Andy of the battle. The ‘Danger Close’ movie is right up there with my favourites. Looking forward to getting these 2 vehicles in the series to bolster my forces. Robin.

What the ****, you seem to have left out the role that 161 Battery, Royal New Zealand Artillery, played in the conflict, particually Captain Morrie Smith, who was attached to Delta Coy, 6th RAR/ANZAC Battalion, even in the movie it was acknowledged.

Hey, whoo back there young fella. Nobody, but nobody in the Land Of OZ forgets what the word "ANZAC" stands for. I think you are missing the whole point of this thread. Knowing Andy like I do I am **** sure he would never disrespect the Military Forces of the Land of the Long White Cloud.

Cheers Howard

Howard, with the greatest respect, Andy has left out our contribution on the 18th August 1966,not one mention of New Zealand.

32 dead means **** all

A oversight by Andy does not mean he is disrespecting the NZ dead or contribution as you seem to be implying. I think you will find when K&C brought out the artillery set he did mention the role of the Kiwi artillery and that is why that set is called an ANZAC artillery set rather than Australian.

However now that you mention 32 dead I guess you mean during the whole war.

D Coy lost 18 in one day and most of those were from one platoon.

The scene Andy is depicting is basically the Australian cavalry with 6 RAR infantry. Pretty sure no slight of NZ military or their well known bravery and fighting ability was intended by Andy.

THANKS BRETT,
My intention was pure and simple... to preview the 2 x upcoming new versions of the Aussie M113. I happened to add some 6 RAR to provide some extra 'drama' to the scene...The accompanying words that I wrote were not a definitive history of the event or indeed all those who took part... just a bit of additional background, no more, no less.
I'm a big admirer of ANZAC Forces and look forward to adding more as this great series continues to grow and develop.
All the best to everyone involved here...Aussies, Kiwis, Jocks and the occasional Poms and Yanks!
Have a great weekend,
Andy.

Hello Andy. Great you decided to make again Aussie M113 because the first models were directly out of order. I hope this one will stay a few months for sale.
Thank you for all the figures you make.
I have a huge collection WW1, Bersheeba and Vietnam. Do you think there is a chance to see a US M48. It would be great. Best regards. Fabien from Belgium

You are preaching to choir here mate . The M48A3 would be a great addition . I have mentioned it previously to Andy but he has had reservations due to other companies releasing the vehicle .

Hi Damian,
You are correct...Previously I did have a couple of reservations about the M48...Mainly because I wanted to produce some other 'Vietnam' vehicles first...
Well, now that we've produced most of these other vehicles and/or about to release some others..
.I no longer have any reservations about producing a 'Vietnam' M48!

Best wishes and HAPPY COLLECTING!
Andy.

Neat to hear there will be an M48 eventually. I have the Collectors Showcase version, which I like and which scales well with K&C figures, but I’d be interested in seeing what your new take on the vehicle would look like.

Also, the new Aussie M113s look great! Rather tempting as I’ve got a small collection of the Australian Vietnam figures in a display centered around the Centurion model. But speaking of the K&C M113, have you ever considered making one with an interior? It could make for an even more versatile display.
