Hi Guys,
Our friend "rekp” was disappointed that there were no “Alamo” related figures for him in this and other recent “DISPATCHES”...
Here’s a suggestion ... contact the Gift Store at the Bryan Museum in Galveston Texas . That’s where my friend Chris Munro and yours truly completed the 70 square foot diorama of the Battle of San Jacinto last year.
We made over 70 brand-new sculpted figures of Santa Anna’s Mexican Army and the opposing Texans. We utilised almost 2,000 of them.
After we completed the model there were quite a few different figures of the new pieces left over that the Museum intended to sell as souvenirs in their own Gift Store. Try contacting them to find out more and... how much.
Hope this helps.... Good luck and happy collecting!

Thanks for the info Andy . Just have the one question are the figures the traditional quality or are they akin to the lower quality ones released lately ? I have contacted the museum and hopefully i should be receiving a list of figures available .

Regards

Steve

Hi Steve,

Re your query... The "Battle of San Jacinto" figures are painted and finished to the regular "Remember The Alamo" standard.

The other ones you mentioned are the "Tourist Specials"... Less expensive certainly and obviously less detailed... but still extremely useful for collectors either just starting out or who want "more numbers" for battle scenes etc.

Best wishes,
Andy

Just a quick thank you to Andy for the heads up . Purchasing 16 of the San Jacinto figures in my first batch .

I have pdfs of the models available if anyone is interested .

Hi Guys, hi Steve,

I'm very much looking forward to your thoughts and comments on these "Battle of San Jacinto" figures.

By the by... which ones did you order Steve...?

Here's a few pix of some of the "Specials" we created for that battlefield diorama in the Bryan Museum in Galveston Tx.

All the best... and happy collecting!

Hi Andy

Here are the numbers I have ordered . They are being shipped to one of the companies I use in the US to consolidate my Thomas orders so not sure when I will see them . I concentrated on ones that would fit in the Alamo theme initially so no cavalry and very few undressed Mexicans .

Some nice figures! I really the Texan fifer with a rifle slung over his soldier. I also really like the sculpts for the Mexican troops. Any chance of seeing them released as French Napoleonic soldiers?

Cheers,

Brendan

I kind of like the figure of the "Senora/Senorita" who looks a little upset by the whole ordeal.

If you look in the issue of the collector with the article on "The Battle of San Jacinto" the figure of the Senora is standing by the tent.......She is wearing a burgundy colored dress.

Ok a few posts ago I was full of praise for the contact link to the museum in Galveston . Best part of 2 weeks later that has dissipated . I ordered 15 figures , supplied the part numbers from the list of stock they supplied me , gave card details etc and then the day they were supposed to ship 2 weeks after first contact I receive an email saying "oh by the way I have checked our stock and I only have 7 of the ones you ordered I guess we gave the others away "

What a way to finish off my interest in K&C .

RekP,

Yikes my fine man! I tell you what...the Texas Toy Soldier Show is coming and I will ask "the heads" to see what they can do. In addition, Mike Miller lives in Galveston, TX and if you reach out to him he can probably stop by the museum and inquire for you. If need be, I will get them from Mike at the TTSS and ship them off to you.

Nonetheless, contact Kings X, or K&C in Hong Kong and I know for a fact they will try and accommodate you. Nobody wants an un happy camper.

John from Texas
