I just purchased a signed copy of Doorknob Five Two by the pilot author Major Fredric Arnold and looked him up. I was totally surprised and amazed at not only his WW2 air combat status but that he wrote a novel based on his experiences and crafted such a moving memorial to the twelve fellow pilots that were KIA in combat from his original training class. The sculpture is so very detailed and imparts elements of loss and doom, yet the duty to carry out another mission as depicted by the briefing of the still living pilots surrounded by their fallen comrades. This would make a truley wonderful and haunting miniature display if reproduced in the scale we all love to collect. I am truley moved by his skills, artistry, and insights of sacrifice and duty of the men he flew with that never returned from their final missions.
Cheers
