Hi Guys,

As some of you may know K&C in Hong Kong and KINGS X in San Antonio are involved with several service charities in the UK., HK and Texas.

Just today I rec’d an email from Laura in Texas giving me a link to a television news story about a former U.S. Marine called Josh Sweeney who lost both his legs due to an I.E.D. in Afghanistan.

Josh has became one of the star players in ice hockey for disabled vets and has even represented his country in the paralympics. His story, courage and determination is truly awe inspiring…A part of his story is the involvement of a service charity called “Operation Comfort” which is based in San Antonio. Laura has been closely involved with this great group of people for several years now…About two years ago the chairperson mentioned to Laura that they were looking for a new “logo” design for the charity and did she know any Graphic Designers?

Laura replied that actually her ex-husband (yours truly) trained as a Graphic Designer and was a former Marine (albeit Royal that is) and he might help.

I was delighted and honored to help and came up with a few concepts, one of which they selected.

Somewhere in Josh’s video you’ll see it. However my main reason for writing is once more to pay tribute to the amazing heroism and courage…and determination of wounded vets like Josh Sweeney to rebuild their lives in this rapidly changing world of ours.

I strongly urge each and every one of us to do something however small (or large) for those guys and girls in both America and Britain who have given so much of themselves to help protect us!

Per Mare Per Terram and…Semper Fi,

Andy C.

Thanks Andy for posting the link and sharing the story...everyday you here of some soldiers getting killed or wounded, it becomes rountine almost (sadly) we or myself in general sometime forget there is a real person who just lost a arm, leg, disfigured , that comes with that name we heard on the news.

It's good to here stories like Josh of courage and a will to fight through some of the toughest battles he will ever have to face and that's trying to move on in life after a terrible battle wound he sustained, and to see him back on the ice living his life to the fullest is a great thing.

I'm a member of the Wounded Warriors Project and do what I can, and to see the good that projects like Operation Comfort and Wounded Warriors do for the Vets is very special indeed, thanks again for posting this story...Sammy
