This is the 2nd image of the "Red Tails". I found the B&W photograph in the US National Archives and thought about what their airfield must have been like in Italy. The black ground crew that K&C made with the "Red Tail" series fit perfectly along with "Creamer's Dream". The white officer in command made for a more realistic feeling on the flight line. The courage and determination of these black pilots and ground crew of the 332nd FG showed that even in a segregated army, fighting for a country that treated them as second class citizens, good men were going to standup and be counted in the fight against Fascism.
Enjoy,
Steve

What an excellent dio. Yes these men were very brave and did a great job. Correct Me if I am wrong, but some one told Me they never lost a bomber on escort duty. You should see the great movie that tells their story.:salute::

Excellent Steve. Love the Red Tails. The story of these heroic men and the obstacles they overcame is tremendous.

Hi Sed410,

Is this a dio or an image? Amazing either way.

Rgds,Chris

Chris,

This is a dio AND images. The plane, figures, jeep and ambulance are all K&C photographed individually. The background and foreground is a combination of ten different photographs merged together to make up one image. This complete image is 97 mgs, almost 1GB in size with 35 separate layers in Photoshop.

Agreed with everything said here, excellent dio!
