1/30 scale BTR 40 on EBAY (1 Viewer)

They look great Ben and gives us a lot more choice for dioramas if you don't mind a bit of painting etc.
I see the seller also has US Marine Corps LVTP 5's. I'm guessing this seller would be able to also do in 1.30th. I got mine in 1.30th from Paul here in UK, this seller will give people the chance in the US without incurring postage or Customs fee's an all round win I'd say on first look !

Thanks Steve.
The seller is open to requests. I inquired about the BTR 40 and he printed it. I will use one for the Bush War in Angola and the other for the 1967 War in Syria.
Best wishes,
Benjamin

Look forward to seeing them painted up and in dioramas both of which will be rare subjects. Don't think I've ever seen anyone do any of Angola inspired. Portuguese Colonial or later !?

Hi, Steve.

Thanks for asking. The Angolan diorama will focus on the Bush War and I will use figures made by Frontline. They made a figure of the 32nd Battalion, or Buffalo Battalion, of the South African Defense Forces, so I will use those. I also have a number of their Israeli paratroopers and some of them I repainted as South Africans. The second BTR 40 will be used in an Arab-Israeli diorama, perhaps 67 or 73. In either case, I'll use some of Andy’s IDF figures. Conversely, if I find that the PLO or some of the Christian militias in Lebanon used these vehicles, I may go in that direction. Not quite sure, but it ought to be fun.

Have a good weekend, Benjamin.

Yep sometimes we have to convert figures to fit the scenario especially little remembered wars. Sometimes just a few dabs of paint other times Milliput is the answer !
I've ordered a two vehicles for 3D printing from Paul here in the UK, both not produced by K&C, TGM etc. This time I'm going for a Sheridan Tank and a PT-76 Tank, both will need sanding and filling, I use a spray filler for this as suggested by Paul, couple of coats and some sanding and most print lines disappear you may want to try that yourself maybe.

Hi Steve,
What type of spray filler do you use? Is it automobile primer or varnish?
Are your vehicles for Vietnam?
Best,
Benjamin

Hi Ben

I described it as filler as that is what it effectivley does but it is in Automobile Spray Putty. Which when dries you can sand and paint. Though I used two coats of it on my LVTP 5. I used a can of : MOTIP Spray Putty fast drying 400ml-Spray filler repair which I got from ebay here in UK but expect ebay US will have many sellers too. I paid £6.99 including postage so that'd be just under $8.

Yes Ben, the PT-76 for the North's assault on the Special Forces camp near Khe Sanh and the Sheridan for going into Cambodia. I know there will be a lot of sanding needed on both as the decking rivets are pretty pronounced on them.
