Has anyone made a British Comet Tank in 1/30 scale? The Comet was the best British Tank of WWII, fast and well armed. The precursor to the Centurion and as important as the M26 Pershing was to the following generations of what became the Main Battle Tank. The only decent model I have found to date is the Corgi 1/50 scale diecast; which is pretty well done for what it is. Such a seminal Tank needs to be made in 1/30 scale!

I'd love to see a Comet in 1/30 - the best British tank of the war. Unfortunately it only saw very limted service in 1945 - outside the timeline of the popular WWII 1944-45 "collectors periods" - i.e. Normandy. Market Garden, Bulge. Perhaps a Challenger might stand more of a chance. Any British armour of the period would be nice!

I'd counter that by saying that the M26 Pershing saw limited service at the end of the war but manufacturers are producing them...

Although both tanks saw limited WWII service they were the designs that lead to the NATO Main Battle Tanks of the Cold War; the Centurion and the M48-M60. The Centurion and M48 dominated Soviet T34-85, T-55, T-62 & T-72 tanks in the Mideast wars. Historically and technically they are very interesting designs worthy of 1/30 scale models. A Korean War Diorama of either tank opposed by a T34-85 would be neat!

Need to tell this to World of Tanks... no, no, there is no Russian bias in WoT!?

W. Britians is coming out with many new 1/30 scale WWII figures and artillery. Perhaps they will come out with a Comet. A great opportunity to make a seminal tank model not done before in 1/32 or 1/30 to my knowledge. I have only found the 1/50 Diecast Corgi; which is a very nice model.
I look forward to seeing what W. Britains will produce in armor.

Think kc could make a Comet tank first :wink2:

K&C did not do a Pershing, I do not see them doing a Comet; although it would be great if they did!

Yes but KC made a Cromwell tank and the only company still going that make British AFV

I agree K&C does British AFVs very well. I hope they do a Comet. the best British tank of WWII!

You do know the Centurion tank Mk1 was sent to Germany before the end of ww2?

Yes, but despite strenuous efforts the frontline kept on moving forwards too fast for it to see combat and therefore had to wait for Korea. A Comet model would be great but its service was limited o the last weeks of the fighting in 1945 so I'd like to see a Challenger or a 17pdr armed Firefly.

Two company's have made the Pershing tank which saw service at the end of the war like the Comet tank so can't see why it can't be made , the Challenge tank only saw action after D-Day but is one ugly tank and would it sell ?

The Firefly has been done several times. The Comet not at all. A good looking tank and a complete British design.

I've seen pictures of the Comet, but I'm not familiar with its performance or war record. We've established that the manufacturers have sculpted tanks with short war records like the Pershing, and some of the German designs. I have no British Armor in my collection to speak of (LRDG jeeps and trucks, and Airborne jeeps and a universal carrier), but I'd consider adding a Comet to the lineup.

The Comet was a fast Cruiser tank; speed was 32MPH. Main gun a 77mm HV that out performed the KWK 42 75mm Panther gun. Armor was 102mm maximum. The Comet also saw combat in Korea and served with the British Army until 1958; data per Wikipedia.
