That's right!!
My FOV & 21st CENT. TOYS figures and collection needed a new addition,
so I'm building a giant 1:32, "B-29 SUPER FORTRESS" with full interior!
Will post later tonight!

"Giant" is right! At 1/32, that's about a 4-1/2 foot wingspan. I'm more into AWI and ACW but that B-29 sounds cool. :salute::

1:32 B-29 SUPER FORTRESS Part#3

Just to get a little idea how big a B-29 was and IS in 1:32 compared to a MUSTANG.

Not sure whether the girl mechanic would help or hinder the work on this Fortress? ^&grin, Robin.

Great project that you have started here, looks like a lot of work. I like how you have taking the time with arranging the figures like they are the ones building this plane. What parts are you using for the engines and the glass globe? I can't wait to see this finished, even for a non WWII collector. Thanks for sharing :)

Fantastic project! Your model and construction method hearkens back to the days of stick-and-tissue airplane models, except you're using styrene for the skin. Where did you source the engines and the greenhouse canopy? Are they available on the market, or did you make masters and vacuforum them?

When I read your original post, too, I wondered if you might not have used a piece of PVC pipe for the fuselage. I remember a thread on FineScale's forum, in which someone described scratchbuilding a B-32 Dominator in 1/48, and that was how he did most of the fuselage, because it was a cylinder for most of its length.

Yes, your build is outstanding in its scope and in your ideas. I look forward to seeing more progress!

Prost!

Thanks Brad.
I bought a very expensive, out of production 1:32 balsa wood kit by GUILLOWS.
Now theirs no way in hell I'm building a balsa and fabric kit (I'm a PLASTICS man) so I start breaking the rules right away.
YES, I cover the body completely in 1/4mm styrene plastic right away to give it a hard and flexable shell.
Now I can go to town on it, you will see!
Check out my 1:32 LIPPISCH post. Super fun!

Ah, Guillows, yeah, that's classic modeling!

I can hardly wait for your next installment!

Prost!

B-29 SUPERFORTRESS Update.
1/2mm Styrene skin almost complete.
Added 4 Pratt & Whitney engines and am now fitting the propellers.

Some jazz singer came to the airfield and the men felt they needed some R&R posing with the celebrity for a photo.

Excellent progress! I like the Lego switch panels in the cockpit, too, that's clever!

Prost!

That is one big build! At least it will not be too heavy! Great work and nice story telling with the photography. Cool concept. Many of the builders would have been ladies. We need more working women in 1/32! Lol

Some ladies build the planes...others build the guns...
