1-6 scale figures (1 Viewer)

Does anyone also collect 1-6 scale figures? I did 15 years ago but sold them all when I got into K&C. I never took them out of their boxes, maybe that was the problem. Just recently I bought a collection of 1-6 WW 1 figures, about 13 , and all of them out of their boxes and assembled. I now have them displayed in my soldier room. Also bought a few in box Vietnam 1-6 figures which I promptly took out and assembled and also displayed. They really come to life so to speak. Just curious if any one else collects these.

I have quite a number of them still amongst my hoard. Sort of lost interest in them awhile back, although the quality of the sculpts and detail has only increased drastically over that time. As have the retail prices.

I only collect 1/6 ww2 & modern pilots & astronaut figures. However I have one B17 gunner figurer and he's awesome.

I think the popularity of the 1/6 scale figure peaked several years ago. I make that statement based on the decline in the number of shows, and in 1/6 scale figures I see at other shows, and also in the decline in content about the figures in the various magazines. Toy Soldier & Model Figure ran a feature on new 1/6 releases, for several years, for example. And back in the mid-Aughts, our local Langhorne toy soldier show featured an area with dioramas and displays using 1/6 figures. That tailed off even before the Langhorne show went under.

That's not to say that no one collects them; obviously some do. But I think that many collectors jumped on the bandwagon, and have since jumped off again.

I never collected them, but I still have my old GI Joes from when I was a kid. I've thought at various times about doing something with them-the ones with beards would make great Prussian cuirassiers circa 1870, for example. I've got a couple of the Marx "Best of the West" horses, too. But that will remain a project for the future.

These are certainly an interesting aspect of the military modeling/collecting hobby. The quality has improved considerably over the earliest Action Man/GI Joe concept. Although I sometimes see some serious modeling and conversion work to turn these into museum quality exhibits, these are almost always swamped over with kitschy production - overly voluptuous clones that border on the limits of decency..

I collect them. Only German ones....I even have a filed gun......:salute:::salute:::salute::
Used to dedicate a lot to them.
But as with many I switched full time to 54mm ( took less space in the house ) but still have many on shelves and even more in storage..
For many, I still have the box, but one aspect I loved was to add historical accurate extras..be it medals, weapons of extra gear.....
