Fellows,
Here a few pics of the 11.11.2012 celebrations in my home town . Last post at 11.00 hours . The band of the catholic school association and a picture of the statute of King Albert "the soldier King". On the monument it reads "King Albert and his Army 1914-1918" No more veterans of ww1 alive and only a few veterans left of WW2. ( my uncle was one of the youngest veterans of WW1 his was not even 16 years of age - after the first German shelling his hair turned from black into snow white overnight !!!!!) Veterans now marching are mostly from the Korean war, the Congo and the Balkan.
here are the pics

Menin Gate
The last post was played by the buglers at the Menin Gate yesterday for the 29.029th time ; We will reach 30.000 somewhere in the middle of 2015. This event will be broadcasted world wide. It is the intention to maintain this daily act of homage in perpetuity. Two buglers from Ypres played the last post yesterday at the 11.11 commemorations in Sydney/Australia . Belgium will coordinate all the 1914-1918 commemorations and events on the Continent from 2014 till 2018 incl.
Here are some pics taken yesterday ,sorry for the poor quality of some of them

Guy, thanks for this post. My Grandfather and a Uncle are remembered with their name inscribed on the Mein Gate. Hopefully sometime next year I will be visiting your home town to see for myself where they fell during the Great War. LEST WE FORGET.
Wayne.

Wayne , whenever you are here in my country please let me know . I would be very pleased and it would be an honour to be your guide in the Ypres salient . (I live in Bruges by the way, but it's only 25 miles from Ypres so no problem)

Thanks for posting this Guy, have attended this service many times over the years when staying in Ypres or on the Somme. Very nice service and never fails to move you, will be visiting again possibly next year but most certainly in 2014 for the 100th anniversary.
