Yesterday, 8400 men, women and children stood, torch in hand, along the 84km WW1 Belgian Frontline. Starting in Nieuport at the seaside, following the Yser river and streching out for 84km till Ploegsteert. One person every 10meters.
Tynecot cemetery was illuminated by 12.000 candles and so was the Ploegsteert cemetery. All nationalities that fought on the Belgian front were present, also Germany. It was a spectacular commemoration called "Light Front" and followed by thousands and thousands of spectators .
Here are a few pictures

Very similar to the illumination at Sharpsburg every September to commemorate the battle. Very haunting. -- Al
