It's new, I've designed and built this 3d figure. I use paper like raw material in order to create toy soldiers in 1/30 scale.
During the XVIIIth, XIXth centuries and early in the XX, some toy soldiers were made with paper card in 2d (see E.Ryan book : "paper soldiers" or this french link about "Les petits soldats de Strasbourg": http://petitssoldatsdestrasbourg.blogspot.fr/.
