Haven't seen this one before. It's called "Back Door to Hell". It is a B/W production, shot on location in the Phillipines. Rather typical plot, ie., 3 US Army Intelligence men put ashore on Luzon in '44, prior to the US landings, in order to gather intelligence. Of course they meet and join with guerilla forces. Best thing about it is the weapons which mostly appear the correct ones for time and place. Lots of '03 Springfields, early Thompson's in guerilla hands, and late production Thompson's in US Army hands. Also incudes an M3 greasegun, BAR, and a Type 92 Japanese heavy machine gun or two. Unfortunately, the Japanese troops all seem to be armed with '03 Springfields. All in all, a pretty typical B grade war show, uneven acting, writing, etc., but interesting for the Nicholson factor. -- Al
