Has any company planned to make a mini-collection of this historic event on its 50th anniversary?

I would doubt that any of the major Toy Soldier companies would venture down that route.
The "SPACE" market is saturated with model kits and diecast products from very cheap items to very expensive items.

I have to agree with what Larry said about market saturation of space models and toys, although the thought did cross my mind as to how neat it would be to have some well made classic spacecraft (Apollo CSM & LEM, Gemini, Mercury, Soyuz, Vostok, etc.) along with astronaut figures in 1/30 scale...

That said, the closest one can get to 1/30 scale spacecraft are the Revell 1/32 scale Apollo CSM kit and some 1/24 (G-Scale) prebuilt resin models of the Apollo, Gemini, and Mercury capsules in their post-reentry looks with full interiors. Here is my little shelf display with the 1/24 scale prebuilt spacecraft models:

Wow, I am impressed with your collection and the way they are displayed.
Very nice.

I have no doubt that Andy, Matt, Thomas, Ken or John can come up with specular designs and craftsmanship, but will there be a return on the investment?
Sadly, I don't think that is enough of an untouched market to warrant the expense and risk.

In another thread I mentioned that I witnessed the launching of the Apollo moon rocket at Cape Kennedy and I sat transfixed to my B/W TV in 1969 to watch the first humans on the moon. However, I wonder if I would invest in that series??? :rolleyes2:
