Bill Hocker has announced that he will be showing 2 new lines of figures at the Chicago show. My guess is that they will be WWI and Boxer Rebellion. If anyone has a camera and willing to taking pictures of these new items and post them on TF it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Randy

Sounds interesting, Randy.
Something to look forward to.

Mr. Hocker skipped over the Franco-Prussian War?! All those classic colorful French & German infantry, cavalry & artillery uniforms from that period would've looked great as glossy Wm. Hocker toy soldier sets. I look forward to seeing his two new lines and especially curious to see how he depicts U.S. WW1 forces (U.S. Marines in particular) along with a French Line Infantry set? Will they be similar to the famous old Britains set #141 French Line Infantry with that beyond-classic French Line Infantry Officer marching wearing boots & blanket-roll (this Officer figure was only produced 1909-1924 by Britains' Paris Office)?

According to the roving reporter, Pat Wade...the lines are the Boxer Rebellion...and Poncho Villa Punitive Expedition 1916 (and I hear rumors of an airplane)!

Sorry, no pictures!{eek3}

Thanks Pete for the Intel.

The Doughboy and Mexico 1916

We may as well begin by explaining an accepted origin for the term Doughboy which has become so closely associated with the soldiers of the American Expeditionary Force in WW1. Our minds must be cast back to 1916 and the punitive expedition across the Mexican border to catch the infamous Pancho Villa. Coined as a term of derision toward infantrymen, as they became covered in the fine adobe dust thrown up by cavalry hooves and motor transport wheels, the term soon evolved into quite the opposite as it would mark the men as combat veterans.who had gone overseas to do their bit for Uncle Sam.

Pershing's Tank, Mexico

Part of the command of Major General John Pershing's Punitive Expedition against Poncho Villa in Mexico 1914-1917. Think this is a Jeffrey-Quad Armored Vehicle.

Are there any photos of Bill Hocker's room at the show and of his two new series.

This has to be the least reported Chicago show ever. So many products not covered.

Thanks to Peter Reuss for these photos of Bill's 2 new lines: US Punitive Expedition to Mexico (1916) and the Boxer Rebellion (1900)

Note the airplane, automobile, and motorcycle with side-car in Mexico. Even a mariachi band! A wide variety of international troops for the Boxer Rebellion. These all look like great renditions of these subjects. Exciting times for Hocker collectors.
