Great video. It is really incredible what these men and women went through. Don't know enough about WWII aviation variants, never seen what looks like a 2 seat spitfire? If not a trainer, unlikely since they say its his plane from his combat missions, what was its purpose?

I reckon it must have been altered to use as a trainer after the war maybe ?
Its the one thing they neglected to mention in the story . Their cant be
too many like that left flying so I wonder if any one here knows.
Here is a link to surviving spits ,it looks like it is the one owned by Carolyn Grace ,so was converted in 1950.

No problem Brad , we have an air show coming up at easter [warbirds
over wanaka] which has a spitfire apearing this year so with a bit of
luck i,ll get too see one flying for the first time.

Per chance will there be a Mosquito or Beaufighter performing? I know they have been working hard on a dh98 but I am not sure of her progress. Thanks & I know you will have a splendid time at that show!!!

I dont think their is , heres a list on the shows website about the
planes that are performing ,but I dont know if thier are others just
on display as I havent been before.
