I've been sort of daydreaming here at work and thinking over what has been 2010 so far and have to admit, WW2 era collectors are just getting blitzkreig'd into submission.
I always felt like if a company could keep one of the "big 3" (Panther, Tiger or Sherman) in unretired rotation, it was a good year- but MAN ALIVE!! Look around the catalogs and 2010 has got to be the year of WW2- FOR EXAMPLE:
- we have vehicles with thrown tread and skirt/ no skirt options;
- polystone airplanes became mainstream;
- troops out the wazoo;
-"base" type scenics are all over the place- RAF building, watchtowers, etc;
- new ships like the landing crafts;
- a slew of utility vehicles for Germans and American and British forces- then the options to have those utility vehicles in alternate desert camos;
AND to top it all off, manufacturer's like Thomas Gunn and First Legion keep carving out their niche with their own high quality offerings- you would think WW2 has been beaten to death BUT NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!
I cannot imagine what 2011 will churn out, nor can I ever imagine how much all the WW2 buffs could spend if they bought ALL the manufacturers releases for 2010.
Yet again, with all this WW2 hysteria, it boggles my mind, especially with "THe Pacific" coming out that the Corps didn't get more representation.
Anyway, just my observation- it is really overwhelming and exciting.
