hi

any thoughts/comments for new releases of 1/32nd plastics for 2013.

Hopefully lots of new things. We've seen this new American Civil War series, TSSD is hinting about Alamo figures, as well as Cowboys, Barzso may be continuing with the new AWI range, CTS has come out with a bunch of WWII sets last year, Paragon also mentions new figures. And hopefully there will be lots of surprises as well. Hope for the best.

hi - been on the Airfix website which has a daily competition with Christmas advent boxes and clues about new releases for 2013.

One has a picture of Japanese infantry ww2 and the clue is one of more than 220 - surely this refers to the 220+ Infantry Divisions of the Japanese forces in ww2.

Airfix have issued Japanese Infantry in 1/72nd scale already, so the new set could be either the 1/32nd version or Multipose figures?

If its 1/32nd maybe other non-issued sets are planned for release ie Italians, Gurkhas, Waterloo figures?

Feel like Sherlock Holmes doing a spot of elementary deduction!

In 2012 CTS kind of came out of left field with their improved WW2 sets. I hope they follow on with more WW2 subjects.

Maybe in 2013 we could get another run of the Airfix Multipose sets? I really enjoy those figures not only on their own, but for using parts (hand, hats, guns, etc) on other plastic conversions.

TSSD has moved into their "Tombstone" series, so maybe more western figures? I think they may keep following the American Civil War, so who knows what we might see from Nick?

Personal wants - more US Army WW2 figures in winter coats and M1943 field jackets, there still aren't many of those available. Some extra US/British or even German tank crew figures would be nice to add to the vehicles on the market. I also think we need more US paratroopers in plastic. Airfix's were poor, Conte's are good, but we could use more. Speaking of paratroopers, there aren't many German fallschirmjaegers in plastic and the Britsh Red Devils are under represented.

Here's to a happy plastic 2013!

I'd like to see CTS do some other WWII figures, such as Russian or Japanese. I know they did a Japanese set originally, so maybe add on to those. As far as Airfix, if they wold redo the new 1/32 figures in a softer plastic than they have now I'd be interested. But not in the hard plastic they are doing now. I have no interest in those at all.
I suspect we won't see anything new from Conte again in plastic, regardless of all the promises. Still, we have 4 or 5 companies now that will be adding new things. so that's good news. Keep 'em coming..

US Para.jpg Hi..are these the Airfix US Para you are referring too ? I think they are OK...I have seen worse in metal.....ofcourse they are quiet old now... not up to the current standard's.......TomB

Yup, those Airfix paratroopers. They are a bit small, the detail is poor, and they just don't quite have the "look" of the US paratroopers (at least to my eyes). To me, these were some of Airfix's LEAST impressive sets. The Conte US paratroopers have the correct look and their equipment is dead on, but we aren't going to see any more WW2 in plastic from Conte in my lifetime.

The Conte para's must look pretty good..I have not seen them...to me....the Airfix appear to be a correct 54mm scale.....I agree the details are sort of compressed but I reckon they are well done for what I think is quiet a old product....they make a good reference figure for me....my opinion....Merry Xmas...TomB

I have no inside knowledge on anything but I'd like to see some general figures based on The Hobbit. Dwarves, Elves, some sort of Goblin/werebeastie set too, as well as medieval warriors. Other than those, I'm keen to see TSSDs next sets. Texas Rangers would be good. Also, Celts - in addition to the Germanic type Barbarians they've done already.

hi Jay,

the reason / link is Mr Ron Cameron who sculpted many sets for Airfix and Britains.

I like his work - I think that he may have sculpted some of the A Call to Arms series too

regards
Dave
