Thanks Al, glad you like it...……...

Great diorama, George! Making good use of your time, I see. If you can't go anywhere, break out the toy soldiers!

Prost!

Thanks Brad; yup, decided to put my spare time to good use...………….glad you like it.

Thanks Louis, glad you like it; I've got Zouaves, guard Zouaves and Algerian turcos in my collection...…….

Thanks to you, George, probably more than anyone else, I have become a student of the Civil War. As a result, I have come to love the mid-19th Century French Uniforms, especially the various Zouaves and other north-african and Turkish inspired unforms such as Chasseurs d'Afrique from the Crimean War, that our forces emulated. As a result, I have started studying the Franco Prussian War (boy did the French get their ***** kicked), and again, I love the French and especially the German Uniforms that so influenced our late-19th Century military uniforms (we sure love a winner).

Superb as always George and a good use of time, considering we have a lot of it right now.

The French underestimated their adversaries in this conflict, they also did not mobilize their troops effectively/make better use of the existing railway system. Their weapons including their rifles and artillery/gatling guns were superior, but not used properly. Also, their leadership left a lot to be desired...………….this war led directly to two world wars, the balance of power in Europe shifted for the next 75 years.
