Over at the old Groundpounder site there is coverage from the recent toy fair. 21C is getting into 1/32 artillery! They have announced a US 155 gun (Long Tom) and the companion 8" howitzer (same carriage, different barrel), as well as a King Tiger with Porsche turret, their M4 with dozer blade, an M4 "Firefly"and Italian infantry figures. Not "formally" announced but mentioned to the site's correspondent was a US 75mm pack howitzer, an SU-85 and on or two Japanese vehicles. There are also re-releases of the M3A1 halftrack and the M41 Walker Bulldog.

Gary, not many plastic collectors on this forum, but for the money 21st 1-32 vehicles and armour are simply outstanding.
My persoanal opinion on the figures are I hate them, but to use the vehicles with Contes, TSSD,s plastic figures, (and your conversions, I,m sucking up to you) can,t be beat.
Do you have trouble with 21st website, sometimes it loads, while other times it does not!
I,m also a fan of their 1-18th line, the figures are not even in the same league as K&C, but there is something fun about them, being able to pose them.

Gary, Are you talking about both of them being SP or just actual gun carriage:confused: It would be cool to have some US SPA for a change.

Gentlemen I also see pic's from the Toy fair showing 1/18 King tiger and an 88. The problem with all this 21C stuff is the deversity of its allocation to various Wal-Mart stores. My area has four Wal-Marts that surprise the heck out of you depending on the day you get there. Stuff is always never where it was the last time and is usually spread out through two or three different isles. I guess the thrill of the hunt does take make it all the worth while. Althoug I haven't bought any 21C for a long time I always keep an eye on whats in my surrounding stores. Another thing I have noticed about these stores is that nothing is ever marked down as low as what others say on Grounpounders forum. For example we still have rows of Atlantic Avengers at $50.00 where poeple where getting them for $25-30. Sorry for going off topic.Agree with Gary(gk) there vehicles are very good and there figures haven't changed since the first series release...

These are both TOWED versions of the guns. The SP versions of those particular weapons only saw test service near the end of the war in Germany. The towed guns were quite common in all theaters, with the 155mm seeing service before the 8". There weren't very many US SP guns - the M7 105mm was the most common, along with the M8 (SP 75 howitzer on the Stuart chassis). There was a batch of M12 SP 155's built (they used a WW1 French-designed 155mm gun instead of the Long Tom) and about 74 of these were shipped to Europe in 1944.

Those all sound like welcome additions here.
Rumors of Japanese armor, I'll keep my fingers crossed. My Tamiya Chi Ha kit is still gathering dust.

That looks like an outstanding line up, all sound like real winnerst to me. I think 21st has come a long, long way and although the FOV vehicles are weathered more and more detailed, you can't be the price of the 21st items.

I recieved my FOV catalog and there are a boatload of repaints scheduled for 2007, along with some new items such as the SDKFZ 7 halftrack, the M5A1 Stuart, the M3 Lee and the M3A1 halftrack. One other note is the price jump on their items, tanks now average close to 50.00 each, quite a jump........

Here are a couple of pictures of the 21st Century Long Tom. Sorry for the poor pictures. They look like a photo's of a photo.

As in the past, the 88 release will probably just come out of the blue!
I have never seen a company that actually has the product for sale, yet for the most part, some are virtually impossible to find. I know a lot has to do with WalMart,s distribution process, but why not make all products available to dealers. I will pay more rather than do the WalMart shuffle.

Amen, Gary you hit the nail right on the head about this one but I bet it has something to do with Wallmart's agreement about exclusivity for "X" period of time.

Carlos, I agree about the WalMart deal, but why do some products, example the dozer tank hit dealers before or right at the same time that WM gets them, while others it takes months for dealers to get them.
Speaking of 1-32 vehicles, either FOV or 21st. Why hasn,t a deauce n half ever been done?
I believe that german Opel truck was one of their best sellrs.
I will say this about 21st Century, it produces an excellent product for a fantasticly low price, especially if you CAN FIND IT at WalMart.

To me it seems that both FOV and 21c are sticking with repaints as majority of their releases and just a few new vehicle types. I agree it sure would be nice to see a 6by duce and maybe a few others like a 3/4 ton weapons carrier, ambulances, tow trucks, and tractors for the 155mm and 8inch. There's more to war than just the same old Tiger or Panzer IV repaint.

Walmart is a guessing game at best. You can search 4 Walmarts within a five mile radius and find completely different items in stock. But when you do find a piece, it's a golden moment.

I Just received My Sherman with Dozer Blade and I love it. It will sure help out my engineers. Nice Item

On eBay they're fine sets of this Italians, and new sets of Deutsche Afrika Korps, too, with colonial helmets _ 2 series of 3 each. Hope they will come soon in Europe!
