Today the 21 st July is our national holiday ( our 4th July)
I think it is appropriate to make the link with the Belgians that fought in the Battle of Normandy in 1944 nl: "The Brigade Piron" ( not known by many)
The brigade was composed of 3 motorised independant companies: An armoured car squadron, an artillery group, an engineering company and supply and transport units. These units were made into one homogenous fighting unit with a very high degree of mobility.Their assignment was to pursue enemy forces along the coast of Normandy whilst giving cover and protrecting
the left flank of the British paras. After their assignment in Normandy they were called upon to help liberate the city of Brussels, the Belgian capital ( 4th sept 1944)
I show you a figure of a Brigade Piron soldier in typical British attire and hand painted by myself together with a pic of a restored staghound that belonged to the brigade
