I bought from ebay a set of older Dorset castings, repainted in 21st Lancers colors, from 2nd Sudan War. Any ideas on how to make pennants for my lances...and a way to replicate the windshade that most photos show , as being part of their helmet...I have already added belts and such...Michael

The pennants can be made from thin copper sheet and super-glued to the lance

How about the thin metal foil from the tops of some wine bottles?
Perfect excuse to crack open a bottle or two as well :)

Sounds interesting, any chance for some photos of your progress?

No, really!
It's something I read up in a modelling magazine, where they used this foil to make up bedrolls on the back of tanks, recognition flags etc. Easy to se as it's mallable enough to shape around other fixed objects, but will retain it's shape unless it's overly messed around with.

I got well and truely hammered the night I read the article, just so I could build up a decent supply of modelling materials. :)

You need to find wine that still uses the soft lead like material - most US wineries use some type of plastic stuff

I was lucky. The sixth and ninth bottle I cracked open that night had the soft metal foil. :D

Bought copper sheet, fashioned and painted pennants for my lancers and painted the rolled pennant, already sculpted to the lance...But I am having second thoughts about attaching these things..Kind of looks good as is.. Historical question...would most lancers have their pennants furled, during campaign and battle..Did the 21st charge with pennants opened or closed? Thanks Michael
