Thought i might share these 28mm Naps (I found the 20mm scale a touch to small for me,Warrior dont know how you do it).
Anyway the 28's just seem to work better for me..Plus i like these new Plastic sets.
The Cav here are Plastic Perry there is so much detail they take ages to paint .
The British are Metal Casting made by FOUNDRY i managed to snag a bunch on Ebay for a song.
Not sure what it is but i love painting Napoleonic British :)...have about 24 done should not take long to build up a half decent Sqaure.

These are pretty darn good figures by the look of it and you have made a great job in painting them. The quality of the figures available today is much improved from when I use to wargame over 30 years ago.

Any more photos?

"...Not sure what it is but i love painting Napoleonic British.."

Because they look like the "Good Guys" for some reason. (Even we fought them here in 1812-14.)

Nice job on those, really like the French cavalry, they look very nice.

Trust me, if I had to do it all over again, 28mm would be the way to go, too late now, have over 10,000 figures, wouldn't want to start over now...............

Many thanks Warrior and Jeff will do some more pics just need to get some more Cav painted.
Scott we fought them here to but on a much smaller scale 1804 Battle of Vineger Hill about 20mins away from were i live....

Yes, I have fell back into the 28mm world. Napoleonics as well. I bought a collection of unpainted { some cleaned and primed} Perry and front rank.
Sat on them for a while, then broke down and bought several plastic sets of Perry and Victrix. Spiraling back into it in a fevered pitch. My friend are collecting and painting and I am tagging along. Such nice figures and loads of fun assembling .Have 6 x 36 French Line battalions painted and a 4 gun Battery.
Almost all of those are metal, some plastic .
Too much fun.Eyeballing Calpe Prussians too.
Hopeless figure nut.
Your Troops look great!

Thanks Fub...
I know for me the 54mm Napoleonics just will not work on a 6x4 table plus 28mm just has everything out there.
I might sell off some 54's and keep some just for old times sake.
Thinking of getting some of the Hat sets and se how they go with Perry's.
Plastics & Metals its all good to me...There was some Calpe Arty Prussian sets on ebay going for a good price i passed on them now im kicking my self.
Hope all is good there Harold.

Ps...Oh yea now i might have to shell out for a Hovals Hougoumont.

Hi,

I am also moving into 28mm - I think that the Victrix figures and especially the Perry cavalry being so good are the main draw.
If the same figures wre made in 54mm (but not in the chunky style) then I would be buying many boxes too.
At the moment I have about 10 boxes of plastic assorted 28mm but find it difficult to progess them whilst mainly working on other 54mm figures. Maybe I will finish a battlefield set up in 28mm by the time I am 65 in 20 plus years.

Yes, the availability of more 54m multi part plastic kit sets would have kept me on course and avoiding the 28mm which teased me for so long. I just dont see it happening to the degree { troop types for various Nations} I want to paint up in this lifetime.

My 54mm Napoleonic and ACW are more along the line of the ultimate playset collections to set up and admire once in a while.

Progress on Napoleonic 28mm is going fairly well. 12 x 36 fig French Line and Light Battalions done, a foot Battery, 2\36 Chassuers and Lancers.

Prussians, 4 x 32 fig Landwehr { KURMARK} Battalions
2 Line and 1 Fusilier Battalions
x 4 gun Horse Battery
Lutzows Battalion near finished.
Cavalry next.

Getting a LITTLE burned on Napoleonics, Painted some Orcs and Urak hai, + a few Dark ages guys for a fantasy wargame battle last week. Tired of that already, Back at the Prussians!

I finish about 8 figures each evening. Have 8 1/2 done, finish those, srart another 8. Goes easier than starting 8 from the beginning. Probably takes just as long but it FEELS like I'm making better progress.

Sounds like you are on a roll with the painting...Warlord Games have a new Plastic Prussian Landwehr set.
Have not seen anypics just the box cover...

Hi Guys,
Have to agree that the new plastic 28mm sets are excellent, I only hope that some manufacturer could do the same in 54mm size. Pity Victrix got that part of their strategy so wrong:(

I wasn't a big fan of the 28mm metal but now they are coming out in my favourite material, plastic, I'm getting quite interested in seeing what can be done with them.

For a Peninsular Campaign game, so far I've managed 11 action posed British 95th Rifles, including an officer, bugler and sergeant ,using parts from the Perry ACW and Nap British Infantry. Working on movement type poses for British Light Infantry using the 95th bodies. Got some used part painted Victrix French off of Ebay, so I'll do something with them as opposition and am just working out how to convert the French Dragoons into the earlier uniforms. With the Perrys' making the command sprues available to be bought seperately, I think making a unit of Vistula Lancers would be workable.

I am making a unit of US Army for the War of 1812 from a Victrix Waterloo British Centre Company set, have to work out how to do the officer, I'm thinking a Perry Pennisular Brit officer would be a good starting point.

Looking forward to the Nap British Hussars, ACW Zouaves and Sudan War Ansars to come out next year for another project:).

So I'll end with a question for my fellow 28mm plastic fans.

What would you suggest I could use to make Spanish Guerrillas from a set currently available?

Any help appreciated:).

Regards,
Dave M

Dave, Spanish can be had in METAL , lots and lots of irregulars and such from

FRONT RANK , and REDOUBT. Both 28mm metal makers in the UK.

Plastics, Man I am not sure, unless you are great with modeling putty and conversions. I'd go with the metals.
I agree , the Victrix 54mm was a bit of a letdown.

Fub

Fubar,
Thanks for that but I don't do metal in 28mm ONLY in 40mm. I am really a plastics guy:D.
Conversions are not a problem, just can't think of what would be the best starting point. The way I work is to go for the figure either for the pose and completely re-dress it or close to the uniform and just do a smaller conversion to get the right 'look'. I don't go for a 100% correct uniform, I just want them to look like the types they represent.
I was looking at the WARLORD ECW set as they have the slightly baggy trousers and stockings, which might work for the Spanish style and they have some wide brimmed floppy hats that might be useful, but I don't know if they fit in size wise with the PERRY and VICTRIX figs.

Actually mounted Spanish Guerillas are probably easier to do using the ACW Cavalry. I think I can manage a couple of armed monks, although the haircut could give some problems:):D

I am hoping the PERRYs' will do an Adobe Building in the same type of kit as the ACW one they did. Which would be great for doing a spanish village and useful for the Sudan War when they do some British in plastic to fight the Ansars.

Like you I would have prefered to do everything in 54mm but none of the manufacturers seem to want to do all the figure types for one conflict. I am surpised that with the popularity of the 'Sharpe' TV series and books and the wargames rules 'Sharp Practice' that it is so difficult to find figures suitable for that period in this scale. I was hopeful with the way HaT is going but they don't seem to want to do the British.
