Here are some models of the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] Troop, Philadelphia City Cavalry as illustrated in Vol IV of Military Uniforms in America (The Company of Military Historians, published in 1988 by Presidio).

All of these (except the recent Britains lady) are either converted or just repainted Britains. My collection is mostly toy soldiers so that is the look I go for. The turned officer was RCMP. The bugler was a standing hussar who needed new legs. The dude in the tux is actually a model of F Scott Fitzgerald I made from the Yeoman of the Guard officer figure. Not sure who invited him to the parade.

I had to leave the officer’s saddle cloth blank because I can’t find any information on how it was decorated. If anyone knows, please share!

These figurines are fantastic. Very well made and wonderful to look at. Great example of what dedicated collectors are able to achive with determination to realise what is aimed for.
I wish there would me much more of it around here. Especially covering the glossy world in its ability to extend all those historic colour prints and books of bygone ages into 3D.
Thank you for shareing and keeping this part of the hobby alive, hope it will boost the creative juices of others ...

Thanks again, hopeing for more stuff to enjoy from your workbench

regrads and greetings from the Rhineland

Thanks for your kind words! I am planning to do more American militia and volunteer units this year. Building up a stash of battered Britains cadets, hussars and anything else I can find to help with the effort. I agree that it would be nice to see more examples of gloss conversions on the site. There is nothing as inspiring or exciting as seeing what other people are up to out there.
