Today on Belgian independance day, we inaugurated a new king : King Philippe the 1st. As a prince he was a Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Belgian Airforce.Studied in the US at Harvard university. As king he received a promotion and became a 4 star General in the Belgian army, As prince he completed a full para commando training , and is also a pilot on Fouga Magister, Mirage 5 and F16. His father, King Albert the 1st abdicated today ( he is 80 and has some health problems) in favour of his son. Google has today a special heading to mark the occasion.
His beautiful wife, our new queen, is princess Mathilde D'Udekem D'acoz ( Belgian noblility)
