This maybe good news or bad news or a mix. As you might know, I have a love for uniform details and such.

From my recent reading, the 78th and the 42nd had very similar or idential facing colors until 1758 or 1759. During the Battle for Fort Ticonderoga, the facing color for the 42nd is buff, same as the Fraser Highlanders.

As such, John's 77th Fraser Highlanders would seem to be decent match for the 42nd at Ticonderoga.

Bad news is soon after Ticonderoga, the 42th received a new regimental warrant and the facing and regimental flag changed from a buff color to a deep blue. As such, the Bushy Run 42nd figures (which I am so sure are coming because Combat has willed it) will not be a great match for Ticonderoga.

HI. It's very interesting but there is no matter to worry about as I read that British have no colors on the battlefield of Carillon (Ticonderoga). So if John wants to make this range , obviously , we must not have colors in it even if we
would prefer. Respect of history it's at this price. ( or cost?)

I am greedy, I would prefer to have the regimental and king's colors regardless.

The color on the collars and cuffs would match the regimental colors. As such, the painting of the figures would be different, pre-Ticonderoga 42nd versus 42nd at Bushy Run. This would be evident on the coat sleeve cuffs changing from a buff color to a deep blue.

Well, it seems clear that John will have to do both.

Dumb Me!!! JJD's 78th foot are not depicted in Kilts, but leggings. So you can once again ignore one of my posts. But wait, ........... we can improvise ...... at the waist, we cut in half a JJD 78th figure and a suitable Frontline 42nd figure. We then glue the top half of the JJD figure onto the base half of a Frontline 42nd to get a historically correct 42nd Highlander for Ticonderoga!!! Simple!!!
