Bought a Britains Fokker DR 1 the other day and was a little disappointed over all the plastic on this piece. Are there mfg. out there that are producing metal 54mm WW1 Airplanes...Appreciate any info. Thanks, Michael

Hi Michael,

Check out Heco Tinplate models. I dont know the web address for them but the MKL Models has them in their catalogue and on their website which is:
www.theguardstoysoldiercentre.co.uk

They are pretty pricey with an average of 150 Pounds before shipping. But they are hand made so I hope this helps.

Instead of a metal one, why not go for a nice mahogany one. K & C made some nice ones and you can probably find some on ebay. Here's an auction for a very nice looking one, down with gear down and in glossy, http://cgi.ebay.com/Albatross-DV-Go...142173QQcategoryZ1189QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

Looks like a good price too.

Dear Brad, I have since found a number of mfg. making these or similar. Were the K/C Warbirds 60mm and what might be an appropriate scale to compliment 54mm soldiers ( my WW 1 collection )? Thanks, Michael

Michael,

I think the planes that I saw this weekend were 1/32, not 1/30. Maybe Louis can say for sure. He's got several neat ones.
