Does anyone know of a source of 58-60mm (1st Legion/K&C size) plastic Napoleonics with nice detail to fill some ranks? The new HaT figures look great but I understand they are more on the strict 54mm size and a bit too small to fit in.

Hi

have a look at the recent Italeri Napoleonics as they are bulkier than ACTA and the new hat sets - also Armies in Plastic are larger - see the Prussian and Russian sets (although some other AIP are more true 54mm)

thanks

Hi Scott

good comparison - its strange how they cant keep the scale consistent, but I reckon sometimes its down to the different sculpters that these businesses use.
Early Airfix 1968 figures ( eg British Inf Support Group, German Inf, BRITISH COMMANDOS)are mostly bigger than the later mid 1970's sets (8TH ARMY, US PARAS, BRITISH PARAS) and then the last few modern sets in 1982 were tiny (eg US Inf, Soviets etc...)

Different scuptors, I'll say with AIP. Bodies are getting more like "simple" and the arms like pipe cleaners. Heads are still pretty good. I'm still looking forward to the German WWI Ulans. TSSD CW and Conte CW can blend for scale but not style.

Funny if you look at the cheap figures in bags at the "shut-up toy*" displays, many or smaller knock off of 54mms we are familiar with.

* "shut-up toys" Coined by a shop over friend for cheap toys to get howling kids to shut up.

Hi Scott

they wouldnt make my 3 lads shut up - especially my 9 year old twins who can talk for Britain and usually its a right load of old twaddle!!!!

Thanks for the reference. Which ones are the recent ones, they don't seem to have that many what they call 1/32 or 2.12 inch sets?

Sorry! I edited my comment on the AIP pistols. They aren't very good.

They look like a pretty good match to the AIP French. Is this what you question was?

That's a conversion of the figure in trousers and the figure with a bandaged head.

I use the Green Prussians in boot to back up the Green Russians. (I may add some Green Prussian landwehr as Russians too.)

Take a look at the Black Cat Miniature figures or the Conte with a head swap. I have done them (the Conte) with the head swaps and they fit it. The Conte are th Alamo Mexicans but they need a little change. What kind of guys were you looking to make?

I am looking for some lower cost but well detailed figures to fill the ranks for mostly 1st Legion displays with some K&C mixed in. At this point French and Spainish infantry would be a preference. What heads would you swap for the Conte plastic Mexicans?
