Today we remember and give thanks to every man,woman and child that lived through and played their part in whatever service and whatever theatre of WW2 and brought us Victory,peace and freedom.God bless every single one of them.

The 65th anniversary of the most important event in modern history. Thank you to all Allied Veterans!
 
Well remember the day. Blackout regulations were ignored. It was the first time in my life that I saw my home town lit up with lights blazing in every window. It was like fairyland.

Indeed but let's not forget that the tyranny was not removed for Eastern Europe. It took more than fifty years for that promise to begin to be fulfilled, for a country like Poland to be really free.

Yes, to a degree and in retrospect this tainted the end of WWII, after all a dictatorship smashed another one at Berlin (and elsewhere).
