I had dinner with Larry and Hans last night, and Larry gave me your wonderful gift. I cannot tell you how honored I am to have a flag that flew over your firebase in Afghanistan. I will treasure it as much as I treasure your Green Beret Coin. I am going to have it and the certificate you sent with it framed and display it above my K&C Afghanistan/Iraq display, alongside your coin. Chuck Harris has kindly indicated that he was going to give me one of his Vietnam era special forces coins, and I will display it alongside yours.

While I appreciate the credit, I didn't do that much, except for helping Louis set up the Rough Riders, Alamo and marching bands (which gave me a vicarious thrill I can tell you) and helping to drive a few people around). It's to Louis, Larry and Hans that the credit should go. It was fabulous and I can't wait to do it again next year.

This is difficult (for a brit) but I read this and the warm glow came right back.

I can't thank all of you enough for the symposium itself - the kindness and generosity of our hosts deserves to become legendary. The company was fantastic and I can't wait to meet again.
