This weekend I played a game set during the French and Indian war. Got out all my toys and set up a British attack on a French artillery position.

I was the French. My son was my opponent. He is only six, so he had a bit of help from my usual game friend.

I thought the British would have a tough time as my artillery was dug in and I had troops on higher ground and in cover in the woods. It was close, but the British smashed my left flank and my army retreated. Much to the delight of my son.

It is always fun to set up the game. I keep the terrain to a minimum to give more of a toy soldier feel to the game.

I hope you like the shots.

Yes, the sad thing is, I was not trying to loose. Combat is by opposing die rolls. He always rolls well. I am hoping he will always be my opponent and not move off to other things. I have to have someone to leave my collection to. {sm4}

I used to play TS with my son on my train layout. I would cheat by starting up a train ,run it around his positions and after stopping it, have my troops pour out of boxcars^&grin ala the doomed Reb attack in Horse Soldiers movie. He would cry foul and quit.:redface2: Totally ruined his competitive spirit until he learned how to destroy me in Warhammer 40k.....:( Michael

Michael, I love that movie. If I tried that Ian would call foul. There are not too many gamers by me so I need to keep it fair if I want to keep playing. Sometimes we play and I let him make up the rules. Then it turns into a game of Calvin ball.

Thanks Roy. I am glad you liked them. One day I hope to get around to building some nice terrain for the game.

Smashing photos Matthew. I keep thinking about looking for some French to go with my QHL and WIM and your photos have made my mind up. Great set up. Can I ask where the triple-tree sets are from? I think I've seen some on the forum before and they look great. Simmo.

Thank you. On those trees, I made them by using an old CD and the large woodland scenic trees. I glued three stands on the CD and then pop the trees in. Very fast to make.

I would take some sand paper and rough up the surface before gluing the tree bases on. It will hold the paint and flock on better. I did not glue the trees into thier bases as I need to take them out for storage. Also keep the foliage that falls off so that you can sprinkle it around below the trees.
